Canada too permissive       on abortion

Last week, several days after Prime Minister Stephen Harper reiterated that
he would not reopen the abortion debate, the governor of South Dakota signed
legislation that would ban almost all abortions in that state.

Many other jurisdictions in the U.S. are discussing limitations and bans.
Even in liberal Europe, there is no country with such a permissive attitude
towards abortion as Canada.

Which should oblige us all to analyze our position on this life-and-death
issue. Once again, I state clearly and loudly that I am pro-life. As to why,
here is just a sample of reasons.

The proposition that abortion is acceptable because a woman can do what she
likes with her own body is absurd. The inherent assumption is flawed, in
that a woman cannot do what she wants with her body. She cannot, for
example, sell her organs for transplant purposes or obstruct the public way.

Further, the argument is not about what she can or cannot do with her own
body because it is not just her body that is involved. Within her is an
unborn child, unique at conception and a distinct character and soul. If the
contents of her womb were mere tissue, there would be no discussion.

But no mother ever tells people with delight that she "felt the tissue kick
today" or announces that she has chosen a name for her tissue. Nor does she
speak of her "fetus." It's a baby. It is referred to as a fetus by
pro-abortionists because it's easier to kill what one has dehumanized.

We invariably hear people who favour what they describe as "choice" say they
would prefer there to be fewer abortions. Yet if abortion is merely the
removal of tissue without any moral or emotional consequences, there is no
reason for there to be fewer of them.

We deny, we disguise, we kill.

Clearly, it is a life. A life whose sex can be determined even before
implantation, a life which at 17 days has its own blood cells, which two
days later is developing eyes and the day after has an entire nervous system
established. A life that at 28 days is forming arms and legs, at 30 days is
developing ears and nose and at 49 days is a miniature person with complete
fingers and toes.

So convinced are we now that this is a genuine life that in Britain some
pro-abortion doctors want anesthetic to be administered to unborn babies
before the procedure. In Canada, however, medics who object to performing
abortions risk losing their jobs. Several have already paid that price.

This has nothing to do with so-called unwanted babies. There are legions of
couples who want to adopt children. Even if there weren't, we still do not
have the right to take an innocent life simply because we are larger and
more powerful. That is the style of the thug and the fascist.

Nor is there a population problem. In fact, Europe and North America have a
crisis of under-population. Where starvation occurs, it is the fault of the
greedy West rather than the over-populated developing world. Again, even if
there were a problem, it would not give us the right to kill.

We have to provide care and help for mothers in need and guarantee community
support for children from conception to birth to adulthood to death. We have
to know that the human person, which should be at its safest in the womb, is
now, obscenely, at its most vulnerable.

God forgive us. And God change the minds and hearts of our politicians!

     In November 2005, Max and Donna revisited Brazil where the Canadian crusader preached in three Regional Assemblies of God conferences in the State of Rio de Janeiro to about 5,000 pastors, and two Women’s Conferences with 4,000 (Sao Paulo) and 3,000 (Rio de Janeiro) attending. The November Crusades included another ten Churches and one Stadium meeting, reaching thousands more!

     Max Solbrekken returns to Europe in March, Brazil in April and Canada in May and June! On July 14-16 he will be guest speaker at the Salvation Army Tent Crusade in Etnedal Valdres, Norway, the birthplace of his parents, Ingvar and Anne Solbrekken.

      At the conclusion of a lengthy interview, a reporter of the Porsgrunn Bladet in Norway asked: “Exactly who are you anyway? What do you say about yourself?”  Max Solbrekken answered: “I cannot save or heal anyone. Only Jesus Christ can do that. I am only a messenger boy for Jesus. I deliver His message and He does the rest.

     “After the messenger boy has delivered a telegram, he rides away on his bicycle. The recipient’s interest is not in the messenger, but in the message in the telegram! That is how it is with Jesus and me. I’m not important in the least, but the Word of God that I bring is vitally important.”

       The next morning the Porsgrunn Bladet carried a full page story about the great miracles of God and the Ministry of Max Solbrekken with this large headline: ‘JEG ER EN LØPPEGUT FOR JESUS’ –‘I AM A MESSENGER BOY FOR JESUS’.  Amen.

	Native embassy in Israel planned Local pastor leads ground-breaking idea Saturday, November 12th, 2005 Lindor Reynolds TADOULE LAKE -- A humble Winnipeg pastor will spearhead efforts to open a Canadian First Nations embassy in Israel and become its first ambassador. Rev. Raymond McLean, founder of the inner-city First Nations Family Worship Centre, is preparing to move to Jerusalem to oversee the establishment of the embassy. The plan, which has the full support of Israeli officials, was revealed exclusively to the Free Press on a trip to Tadoule Lake, a remote reserve some 250 kilometres west of Churchill. On Thursday, a group of Israelis and representatives of the aboriginal community held meetings in Tadoule Lake and Oxford House to discuss economic partnerships and to reaffirm links between the two communities. "It's a good idea, it's a good endeavour," said Ronen Gil-Or, deputy head of missions for the Israeli embassy in Ottawa. "If we can have something in Israel that can create good for all people, that's wonderful. They'll be our guests and it will benefit both Israel and their community." Following his visit to the northern communities, Gil-Or said he intended to recommend the Israeli foreign ministry work as quickly as possible to establish the embassy. No specific timeline or budget for the project has been determined. "The embassy will be a physical, bricks-and-mortar structure," said Alan Yusim, B'nai Brith director for the midwest region. "It is an embassy that is accepted in the same way any other embassy is accepted. It would have an educational component, it would have an advocacy component." He denied the First Nations embassy will bypass normal diplomatic process. "The idea isn't to say we don't recognize First Nations people as Canadian," he said. "We do. But they have unique concerns and challenges that we share." McLean, 43, an evangelical Christian, has taken part in three missions to Israel. The most recent, which saw 44 aboriginal leaders travel overseas in August, included high-level meetings between the Canadians, Israeli government representatives and members of non-governmental agencies. "We share a history of persecution," McLean said. "I want to encourage aboriginal people to go to Israel themselves, to find out what is there and what we have in common." The first educational trip was organized by B'nai Brith Canada, partially in response to comments made in 2002 by disgraced former First Nations leader David Ahenakew. He was recently convicted of hate crimes for calling Jews a "disease" and claiming the Holocaust was justified. He is appealing his conviction. The initial 2002 trip cemented relations between Manitoba aboriginals and Israel. McLean organized the second and third trips and has another scheduled for July 2006. Yusim said there are many commonalities between Jews and aboriginals. "We have had land claims disputes. People have tried to eliminate us. We have had to fight to maintain our language, our culture." Frank Dimant, executive vice-president of B'nai Brith Canada, said the ground-breaking embassy would strengthen links between the communities and give an international voice to the concerns of Canadian aboriginals. "Can you imagine the pride, the pride of the First Nations community to say 'we have an ambassador?' " Dimant said. "Rev. McLean has told me he has walked down the streets of Winnipeg and been treated with scorn. Talk about walking with pride. I think this embassy will give them a tremendous energy and pride. They are now going to be world players. "It won't be nearly so easy to silence them, to ignore them. The representatives will be welcome at every table, at every diplomatic function." McLean said this could be the realization of a dream for his people. "Imagine we have a place to go where we are valued, where our wisdom is respected. We don't have that in Canada. We could have it in Israel." The pastor's vision doesn't end with the embassy. Next spring, he will address a world evangelical conference in Brazil, potentially speaking to half a million people. He plans to encourage Latin Americans to visit the Holy Land. "This could be even bigger," he said. "This could be an indigenous peoples embassy. I am following God's guidance. FIFTY YEARS WITH 

THE LADY OF MY LIFE!

Donna and I celebrated our 50^th Wedding Anniversary recently in Edmonton! We were married on October 8, 1955 at the Saron Lutheran Church near Clive, Alberta. Our honeymoon began at Calgary’s Pallister Hotel and the next night on the CPR Sleeper Car from Calgary to Cranbrook, where I had left my Swift’s company car! We had brunch with my colleague, John Osler and his wife and then we drove to Kimberley where I was stationed! On Tuesday morning I was back on the job!

It doesn’t seem long ago that I swept Donna off her feet and carried her across the threshold of that Motel in Kimberley, British Columbia where we stayed until we could move into the little house I had rented! Our honeymoon that was supposed to last for a long weekend has never stopped. It has lasted for fifty years! Praise the Lord!

THE CHILDREN FILLED OUR

LIVES WITH JOY AND RESPONSIBILITY!

Ten months after we were married, Connie Marie was born. She was a beautiful little baby with lovely blue eyes and a round face and almost no hair! And she was our very own baby! It was such a miracle to see ourselves reproduced in her. What a bundle of joy! And we have always felt the same way about all our children!

I was only 22 years old but was raised in a loving, hard working family that had come through the great depression. My mother and father were Norwegian immigrants who carved out a life for us in Saskatchewan during the “dirty thirties” and came out on top.

We all worked together and never complained. My father refused to take the monthly dole (welfare) of $5 that the Federal Government offered! To me he was a role model, not a pussycat or push - over. He was rock-solid! And my mother was a precious, godly woman, a genuine lady and a real mother, full of love and understanding!

       Not long after Connie was born, Linda Maxine arrived with her beautiful smile and lovely golden curls, Kenneth Allen our first born son and “my shadow”, Diane Ruth, the last of the quartet was so precious to us. Betty Anne came five years later and became the “centre of attraction”, and finally John David the ‘last arrow in my quiver’. We called him Johnny and Betty called him “Goney”! 

          OUR SALVATION EXPERIENCE!

When my wonderful father, Ingvar Solbrekken, was dramatically healed by God's power and filled with the blessed Holy Spirit in 1956 - in his home while lstening to Oral Roberts on the radio - my life was dramatically turned around! I knew that my precious mother, Anne, had received a marvellous miracle before her marriage to Dad in Norway, through the ministry of two Lutheran lay preachers, Storm and Monsen

To actually see the change in my Dad - no more gall bladder problems and a healed heart, as well as the spiritual transformation, however, made a very real impact upon me. I knew nothing about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the power of God that is available to Christians, so although being respectful of my Christian upbringing, I had distanced myself from becoming intimately involved with God!

DON'T GET ME WRONG! When we got married, it had to be in a Lutheran Church and Donna who had occasionally attended the  United Church, had no problem being baptized and confirmed in order to join our Church! When Dad was healed and filled with the blessed Holy Spirit, however, God began to speak to my hardened heart about being born again and receiving the Holy Spirit.

I had not met or known any Pentecostals or anyone else who spoke in tongues, so it was quite an experience hearing my own Dad speak in tongues without the slightest accent. My Dad who spoke only Norwegian and broken English, was filled with the Spirit of God and could speak several languages in other tongues as he rejoiced and praised the Lord. 

For the first time in my life, I saw reality in the Christian faith. It really worked like the Bible states it should work. Salvation was real, God is real and He does really love us and care about us! Christianity is more than  just ordinances, ceremonies, a set of rules, or man-made traditions! And for the very first time in my life, Christianity made sense to me. 

Wherever I travelled with my Company, I began to meet people who were  Pentecostal. I told them that my Dad had been healed, was perfectly well, and that he spoke in tongues. And that we were Lutherans! 

While visiting Edmonton, my brother Fred and I discussed the supernatural things that had happened to our father. Over a glass of beer in the Royal York Hotel,  we talked about the great miracle healings that he had received. Fred reported that Dad had prophesied that his children would heal the sick and cast out devils. He asked  me if I believed it. I told him that I didn't know. His said that he felt the same way! Finally, after discuscussing the subject further, the Holy Spirit came upon me in that bar and I stated: "Fred, I don't understand it but I believe it!"

I rationalized: "We are Norwegians and Norwegians are taught to trust their Dad and we are Lutherans and our Minister said that if it is in the Bible, it is true! We trust our Dad and he said that it is in the Bible, and being Lutherans we believe God's Word. I believe it." And I made up my mind right there and then that I would open  my heart the Lord and visit Mom and Dad and receive Jesus Christ into my heart and life!     

Not long after, Donna and I took our vacation and enroute to the farm we stopped in Prince Albert, SK. In the little Motel where we stayed I got on my knees and called on the Lord to save my soul. He heard my prayer and filled my entire being with His peace. The next evening, I was baptized with the blessed Holy Spirit in my parents home in Norquay, SK. That was the beginning of 'My Journey of Faith'!

Donna gave her heart to Christ about six months after I did, and some time later was filled with the blessed Holy Spirit in the Sixth Avenue Pentecostal Church in Prince Gorge, BC under the ministry of Evangelist Eunice Myers! We thank God for His grace and goodness toward us, and everything else that He has done for us through the years that have followed!

Immediately after I had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, I began to witness for Jesus and to win souls for His Kingdom. I was a commercial traveller for Swift Canadian, selling meat in Prince George and area. About a year after receiving Christ as my Saviour anf being baptized with the Holy Spirit,  God surprised us with a new job where my earnings accelerated greatly!  

I was approached by McCormicks Ltd to be their representative in the same general area, selling biscuits and candy. As a part of my contract ! would Immediately be put on a salary, earning twice what I had made with my former employer and after six months placed on a straight ten percent commission basis. I was the only salesman in our Company on such a contract. 

Can you imagine the kind of money I was earning, selling biscuits, crackers, choclates and candy to the large Food Chains, as well as detailing out of local wholesale houses to small grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores and confectionaries?

In the summer of 1963, I resigned from McCormicks and launched out in the full time Ministry across  Canada. In 1965, Pastor Fred and Gladys Hunter joined Donna and myself in our first Overseas Crusade. What a great time  we had driving non-stop from White Rock, BC to Miami, Florida and then flying to Kingston, Jamaica and after the crusades driving back to British Columbia! 

The journey took 6 days and nights in our 1965 white Rambler Station Wagon. We had placed a mattress in the back, and while the Hunters slept we drove, and when they drove Donna and  slept! We enjoyed ourselves immensely driving across the USA, and during the three weeks of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the Island of Jamaica! Many souls were won to Christ and staggering miracles of healing were the resluts of those meetings!

MY CALL INTO THE MINISTRY!

I had actually begun evangelizing soon after I was converted in June, 1957, using gospel tracts. Soon, I was writing and publishing my own tracts and pamphlets. It wasn't long before I met Pentecostal pastors who were filled with the Holy Spirit and who invited this Lutheran deacon to share the gospel in their churches. Three of those precious brethren were the late Fred Hunter of Terrace, BC and Bill Leggette of Prince Rupert, BC and Jack Williams of Hazelton, BC, who still preaches at the age of 95 in Nanaimo, BC.

My Dad and one of my brothers began sending me magazines from Oral Roberts, T.L. Osborn, A.A. Allen and other Evangelists, which I devoured hungerily. I also studied the Bible a great deal and fasted, especially when I was away from home on business trips! Every year during our vacation, we planned trips where we could enjoy ourselves with the family, but also do some preaching. And God blessed our efforts enormously!

In 1961, while still working with McCormicks Ltd, I launched our first radio program, 'The Cry of His Coming' on Radio KARI Blaine, Washington - directly across from White Rock, BC - which was a huge success and soon we were on a number of stations across Canada! 

In August 1962 - while on vacation - we conducted our first ever Gospel Crusade in Edmonton, Alberta, at the Alberta College. Many had heard our radio broadcasts on Radio CFCW Camrose and the people flooded to the auditorium. My direct preaching shook them up and  Billy Leggette sang with gusto and played his violin! It was a powerful week-long crusade with large crowds, great miracles and  95 souls receiving Christ!

Alll through those years, Donna stood with me as firm as the Rock of Gibralter. She has always been such a wonderful wife, great mother and grandmother, and an excellent money manager. Her favourite shop is 'Value Village' and she still buys my (like new) white shirts for only $5.00. 

When we stopped getting those huge paychecks from McCormicks Ltd and had to pay for radio & TV time, Orphanage support, Crusade expenses, Bible Schools, building Churches and printing huge amounts of tracts, books and magazines for free distribution, however, it was tough...and with eight mouths to feed!

It was only by a miracle of God that we made it!  With no denomination to back us - I declined invitations to join various denominations but chose rather to work with all churches that upheld the blood-stained banner of the Cross - it was only the Holy Spirit Who led us and God's miracles that opened the door for me into many areas of the world! And as souls were saved, healed and filled with God's Holy Spirit, they began supporting us until an army of prayer warriors and donors joined forces with us!

In 1966,  Thomas Tutyko joined me in our first 'Around the World Crusade' which took 3 1/2 months and gave us many thousands of converts for Christ and multipled hundreds of miracles as we preached the Word.  God showed up, confirming His Word with signs following! Thomas continued travelling the world and has for the past 14 years preahed in Ukraine. In 2005, God led me to set up crusades  for Thomas in Brazil where he has already - at 80 years of age - conducted three major 'tours of duty' for our Lord, blessing multitudes with his course in 'Soul Winning'!

Donna and I have just returned from Brazil after another  very successful month - long tour (November, 2005) of preaching to multitudes of people, including between 4,000 to 5,000 pastors in three Regional  Preachers Conferences, two Women Coventions reaching about 6,500 women, as well as 13 other large Churches and one stadium meeting. 

Many were saved, restored, filled with the Holy Spirit, baptized with God's fire of holiness, dedication and soul winning. And large numbers were healed divinely from sicknesses and diseases! Glory to His wonderful name! 

After 42 years of Ministry around the world, I see God's power working even stronger in my life and ministry than ever before, with more open doors, a greater anointing and greater miracles of healing! God has given Donna any myself wonderful health, a great family and wonderful friends and praying supporters. What more does a person need!

FIFTY YEARS LATER!

  Fifty years later, on October 8, 2005 as our family gathered to celebrate our Golden Anniversary, Donna and I could only thank God for His grace and mercy toward us! We raised our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and by faith have committed them unto God the “Keeper of our souls” for time and eternity!

  By God’s grace, we have an unbroken bond of love and commitment to one another that runs through our family, which nothing can destroy!  A deep familial love and a unity that has bound us together for fifty years and will continue to do so through the coming years of raising new families, overcoming adversities and staying focused on the Word of God and Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour!  

We love our children and their spouses, fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild! How we praise God for them all and thank Him for His love and mercy upon us all! Amen.

ONLY TRUE CONVERSION WILL DO!

  The only counsel I have is this: Keep God in your lives, in your families, in all you do! Obey the Word of God, humble yourselves, depart from lustful sins of the flesh and spirit, resist the devil and turn from every thing that has come between you and the Lord!

  The Bible says: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: Who can know it?” (Jer.17: 9) King David cried out: “Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Ps.51: 10)

Almighty God gives us the prescription: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.” (Ezek.36: 26,27)     

Jesus said: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God … That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3: 3-7)

Dear friends and loved ones, bow your knees and your heart before the Lord in true repentance and pledge to Him your love and devotion! He will remove the blinders from your eyes, lift the condemnation from your conscience and fill your heart with genuine peace, joy and everlasting life! Then you will know the true happiness that is found only in Jesus Christ!

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father and the communion of the Holy Spirit be and abide with you until Jesus comes! The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face to shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee; the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And now unto Him Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the Church throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Eph. 3: 20, 21)

May the Lord's richest blessings be upon you my dear friend as you seek Him with all your heart, spirit and soul! And may His healing and delivering power touch your life, my precious friend! Amen.
