WHY
WAS
JESUS CHRIST BORN?
by:
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
JESUS
CHRIST WAS BORN TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL
Sin,
however, was in the world because Satan (the devil). The
devil, who is the father of sin and death, had been cast out of
Heaven and is called the 'Prince of the power of the air', as well
as the 'god of this world'. (Ephesians 2:2; 2
Corinthians 4:4)
The
devil had caused previous disruption and chaos. (Genesis 1:2;
Ezekiel 28:13-19; Isaiah 14:12-17).
Because
of Satan (the devils) rebellion and hatred for God, he had
cunningly planned his strategy by tempting Eve, with the Tree of
Life, in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:1-6; Job 1:8-22;
Job 2:1-8)
GOD
CALLED ADAM WHERE ART THOU?
The
great transgression had been made by Adam & Eve. Now,
for the moment of truth. How would Adam & Eve feel?
Would they now be wise as God, as Satan (the devil) had promised
them? Was the rebellion and disobedience towards God worth
it? No - a thousand times NO.
Adam
& Eve's eyes were opened. But, what did they see?
Adam & Eve saw their own vulnerability, stupidity, weaknesses,
sin and nakedness. Fear stalked and filled their souls.
They had never felt fear before sin entered their lives.
They realized they were naked, vulnerable and inadequate.
Now, they realized they must face the music, and meet God alone.
But
where was Satan (the devil)? Where was the evil one who had
been their wise tempter such a short time ago?
Of
course, the devil was gone, to gloat over his victory. I'm
sure that the devil, the liar and deceiver was not far away,
probably hiding behind a tree, excitedly waiting to see the
inevitable outcome of their sin. The inevitable outcome, the
separation, dis-fellowshipping of God and His special creation,
man.
THE
DEVIL REJOICED OVER ADAM & EVE'S FEAR & TERROR
Evil
satisfaction filled the devil's heart as he observed Adam &
Eve's plight, their complete confusion, perplexity, fear and
terror.
Adam
& Eve heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in
the cool of the day. God said, "Adam, where art thou?
ADAM, WHERE ART THOU?"
As
God called Adam that day, He is still calling you and me.
"John, where are you? Mary, where are you?"
Adam
answered, "We are hiding, we are naked, we are afraid"!
God questioned, "Who told you that you were naked? You
were clothed with My glory. Have you eaten of the fruit that
I forbad you"?
Adam
gave a typical answer from a typical sinner! Adam said,
"The woman you gave me, she gave me of the fruit. It is
Eve's fault, she gave me the forbidden fruit and it's really Your
fault, Lord, because You gave me the woman".
EVERYONE
LIKES TO PASS THE BLAME TO SOMEONE ELSE
It
seems normal for people to justify themselves. It's much
easier to pass the buck, or to blame someone else rather than take
the blame, saying, "I made a mistake, I am wrong, please
forgive me."
It's
similar to the preacher who enjoyed portraying woman in a negative
way. One Sunday morning as he was preaching on 'The Fall of
Man', he vigorously attacked Eve. If Eve, the weaker vessel,
hadn't fallen, the world wouldn't be in the mess it's now in.
The preacher nailed Jezebel and Delilah. "Women are the
ruination of many good men", he shouted.
At
the close of the service, the minister stood at the door shaking
hands. Some complimented him on a wonderful sermon, while
others were glad to get out the door.
A
tall lady shook his hand and she wasn't smiling. She
squeezed his hand until he said, "Woman, you are hurting
me". She looked him square in the eye and asked,
"Pastor, what is the telephone number of the Garden of
Eden"?
He
answered, "I don't know what you are talking about".
She squeezed his hand again until he said, "Ouch".
She spoke again, "Pastor, do you know the telephone number of
the Garden of Eden"? He answered, "Woman, I do not
and by the way you are hurting me." She said,
"Well, I know the telephone number of the Garden of Eden.
It's Adam 8-1-2", and she let go of his hand and left.
Adam
ate one too! Eve wasn't the only one to blame. Adam
also disobeyed God, but really the blame goes into further -
straight to the evil one, the devil (Satan).
THE
DEVIL IS TO BLAME
God
didn't argue with Adam. He turned to Eve and said,
"Woman, what is this that thou hast done?" Eve
made more sense than her husband. She put the blame where it
belong. "The serpent beguiled me and I did eat."
I
agree with Eve. Satan (the devil) is the culprit. The
devil is to blame for all the sin, fear, heartbreak, divorce,
alcoholism, drug addiction and juvenile delinquency. He is
the architect of all that is evil, wicked and destructive.
Riots, anarchy, thievery, murder, sickness, disease and war are
the outcroppings and results of his plans, goals, purposes and
seduction.
SATAN
(the devil) IS TO BLAME. Shout it loud and clear - the devil
is the troublemaker.
JESUS
CALLED THE DEVIL A LAIR & MURDERER
Jesus
called him a liar, deceiver, murdered and thief. (John 8:44;
John 10:10) Our Lord said, "The thief cometh not for to
steal, kill and destroy. I am come that they might have life
and more abundantly." (John 10:10)
YES
- THE DEVIL IS TO BLAME FOR ALL SIN
God
said, "THE SEED OF THE WOMAN SHALL BRUISE THE SERPENT'S
HEAD."
Almighty
God called out "Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou
among all the beasts of the field. Upon thy belly shalt thou
go all the days of thy life..." (Genesis 3:14-15)
It
is noteworthy that some scientists believe that at one time
serpents and snakes walked upright and didn't crawl on their
bellies as today.
"And
I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed
(the wicked) and her seed (the righteous). It (Jesus, the
seed of the woman) shall bruise thy head..."
JESUS
DEFEATED THE DEVIL WITH HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS
On
Golgotha's Hill, Jesus defeated the devil. When Jesus paid
the supreme sacrifice for the sins of the world, and rose again
from the dead. He had delivered the death blow to Satan.
When
Jesus cried, "It is finished", He had defeated Satan
(the devil) and since that very hour the blood of Jesus Christ
washes away all the sins of the repentant sinner, and His stripes
bring healing to the believing, sick person..
The
Bible says, "He (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace
was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah
53:5)
WHY
DID JESUS COME INTO THE WORLD?
The
Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but
have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might
be saved." (John 3:16-17) Hallelujah.
The
Bible says: "Neither is there salvation through any other,
for there is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby
you may be saved, but by the Name of Jesus"! (Acts 4:12)
"There is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ
Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5)
JESUS
CAME THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE
Jesus
said, "I am come that they might have life and have it more
abundantly." (John 10:10) And St. John stated:
"For this purpose was the Son of God manifested that He might
destroy the works of the devil". (1 John 3:8) The
Scripture says, "When the even was come, they brought unto
him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the
spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick: That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet,
saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our
sicknesses." (Matthew 8:16-17)
WHAT
DID ISAIAH PROPHESY?
Hear
it and hear it well: "But He was wounded for our
transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities. The
chastisement of our peace was upon Him (Jesus) and by His stripes
we are healed."! (Isaiah 53:5)
The
Bible says, "Who His own self (Jesus) bare our sins in His
own body on the tree (cross) that we, being dead to sins should
live unto righteousness, by Whose stripes ye were (at the cross)
healed"! (1 Peter 2:24) "He that believeth on the
Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall
not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John
3:36)
THERE
IS ONLY ONE WAY - JESUS CHRIST IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH & THE
LIFE
Jesus
said, "I am the way, the truth and the life and no man cometh
unto the Father but by Me." (John 14:6) Again our
blessed Saviour said, "I am the door, by Me if any man
enter in, he shall be saved..." (John 10:9) Again He
said, "Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
WHY
DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE?
The
Bible says, "Without the shedding of blood there is no
remission for sins." (Hebrews 9:22) "It is the
blood that maketh atonement for the soul." (Leviticus 17:11)
Again, "The soul that sinneth it shall surely die."
(Ezekiel 18:20)
In
Old Testament times, an animal - without spot or blemish - would
be sacrificed, spilling his blood. (Atonement means
"covering") AS THE LAMB DIED ON THE ALTER IN THE
TEMPLE, JESUS THE LAMB OF GOD, DIED ON THE CROSS TO PAY FOR THE
SINS OF THE WORLD.
The
Scripture says, "If we walk in the light as He is in the
light we have fellowship one with the other, and the blood of
Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin." (John 1:7)
Jesus
is the Lamb of God, Who was slain for our sins! "One of
the elders saith unto me, weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe
of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and
to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in
the midst of the throne...stood a lamb as it had been slain,
having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of
God sent forth into all the earth.
And
He came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat
upon the throne. And when He had taken the book, the four
beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb,
having every one of them harps and golden vials full of odors,
which are the prayers of saints."
"And
they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book,
and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and hast
redeemed us to God by thy blood of every kindred, and tongue, and
people, and nation;....Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to
receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour,
and glory, and blessing."
"And
every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the
earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard
I saying, Blessing, and honour, and power, be unto him that
sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and
ever." (Revelation 5:5-13)
JESUS
SPOILED SATAN'S KINGDOM
The
Bible says, "And you, being dead in your sins and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him,
having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting
of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and
took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross, and having
spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly,
triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:12-15) Oh, Praise
God.
We
serve a risen Saviour, he's in the world today. I know
that
He is living, whatever men may say...
I see His hand of mercy....I hear His voice of cheer....And just
the time I need Him....He's always near.
He
lives....He lives...Christ Jesus lives today.
He walks with me and talks with me, along life's narrow way.
He
lives...He lives....Salvation to impart....
You ask me how I know He lives....He lives...within my heart.
What
power! What might! What strength, and what great
ability Jesus has. St. Paul brings it out so graphically in
his epistles. Drink in these truth and be set free and
filled with all knowledge, joy and Holy Ghost power.
"The
eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know
what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of glory of
His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness
of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of
His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when he raised Him
from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly
places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world,
but also in that which is to come. And hath put all things
under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the
church." (Ephesians 1:18-22)
The
Bible says, "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us." (Ephesians 3:20)
St.
Paul writes, "Who (God) hath delivered us from the power of
darkness (Satan) and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His
dear Son (Jesus Christ) IN WHOM WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS
BLOOD, even the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13)
In
referring to Jesus, John the Baptist made the startling statement,
"Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away from the sins of
the world." (John 1:29) To this agree the angel's words
to Joseph, "Ye shall call His name Jesus (Salvation) for He
shall save (salvage) His people from their sins." (Matthew
1:21)
"Let
this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in
the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but
made himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a
servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in
fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto
death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore
God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name is above
every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven and in earth, and things under the earth; and
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11)
THIS
DAY IS THE SCRIPTURE FULFILLED
The
book of Isaiah is called the "Gospel of the Old
Testament". The 53rd chapter prophecies the death of
Messiah Who would bring forgiveness and healing to His people.
Isaiah 7:14 speaks of His virgin birth; Isaiah 9:6 speaks of His
Kingship and the fact that He is very God; Isaiah 28:11-12
foretells the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the end-time phenomena
of glossalalia, or "speaking with other tongues" as a
gift of God to bring stability, rest and peaceful strength to the
Church in times of pressure and tension. Isaiah 61:1-3
prophecies the Gospel Age of His salvation with forgiveness,
healing, deliverance and joy!
"And
he came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His
custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and
stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto Him the
book of the prophet Esaias. And when He had opened the book,
He found the place where it was written,
"The
Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because he hath anointed Me to
preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the
brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, the
recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
"And
He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister and sat
down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue
were fastened on Him. And He began to say unto them, This
day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears." (Luke 4:16--21)
Jesus
entered the synagogue in Nazareth and read from Isaiah the
Prophet. He ended the reading by saying, "This day is
this scripture fulfilled in your ears". He declared Himself
the Son of God and Jewish Messiah by those words.
The
year of Jubilee could not begin until first the Great Day of
Atonement had taken place. He would die on the cross like
the lambs died on the alters of Jerusalem because He is the Lamb
of God which taketh away the sins of the world." (John 1:29)
He
would fulfill the Old Testament 'Great Day of Atonement' when the
high priest entered into the Holy of holies with the blood of the
sacrificial animal. Jesus was not only the sacrifice but
also the high priest Who carried His own blood into the Holy of
holies in Heaven itself. (Hebrews 9:11-14)
The
scapegoat (Leviticus 16:7-21) is also a type of Jesus carrying
away our sins. He is our substitute! Every 50th year
Israel celebrated the 'fear of Jubilee' when all the prisoners and
slaves were freed and debts were forgiven. This is a picture
of the Gospel Age when everyone is set free by the blood of Christ
and His everlasting Gospel! THEY WERE OFFENDED IN HIM.
My
dear friend, Let me admonish you to receive him into your heart
and life as your Lord, Saviour, Redeemer, Healer, Baptizer and
King.
JESUS
CAME TO SEEK & SAVE THE LOST
Jesus
said, "I am come to seek and save that which was lost."
(Luke 19:10) You are included in that number, for "All have
sinned and come short of the glory of God". (Romans 3:23)
You say, 'I cannot live a Christian life in my own strength'!
You
are absolutely right. You can't do it in your own power, but
He will change you and give you the power to live for Him.
The
Bible say: "He came unto His own, and His own received Him
not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His
name." (John 1:11-12)
Jesus
promised, "Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you...." (Acts 1:8) Finally Jesus said,
"I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." (Hebrews
13:5) "...and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of
the world." (Matthew 28:20
The
SEVEN WOUNDS
of JESUS CHRIST
by:
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
THE
SEVEN WOUNDS OF CHRIST FREE US FROM SIN, SICKNESS & SATAN
"He
was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with
His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
HOW
TO RECEIVE HEALING THOUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS
The
ancient prophet Isaiah set forth a graphic picture of the coming
Jewish Messiah in the 53rd chapter of Isaiah - the book we call
'The Gospel of the Old Testament.'
We
can receive total healing
through the wounds of Jesus Christ - According to the prophets,
the Messiah would suffer, bleed and die for His people. He would
be cut off in death, but rise again in power.
He would be wounded, bruised, chastised and striped in order to
purchase our salvation and bring deliverance from sin, sickness
and eternal death.
And
St. Peter records the glorious results of Christ's terrible
sufferings as our substitute. "Who His own self bare our
sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were
healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
THE
SEVEN WOUNDS OF JESUS SPELL COMPLETE REDEMPTION
Jesus
Christ received seven specific wounds in His body during His week
of suffering and death. The number seven in biblical terms speaks
of perfection and completeness. Wounds
according to the dictionary are divisions of the soft part of the
body by a mechanical force applied externally. They are classified
as: contused, lacerated, penetrating, perforating and incised! Jesus
Christ received each of these plus an additional two, by
mutilation and falling.
1)
THE CONTUSED WOUND - produced
by a sharp instrument. "They
shall smite the Judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek." (Micah
5:1) St. Matthew wrote, "They smote Him with
rods." (Matthew 26:67; John 18:22) (Newberry &
Revised) "Then they did spit in His face and buffeted
Him, and others smote Him with the palms of their hands." (Matthew
26:67)
Very
definitely, Jesus suffered pain and humiliation as Roman soldiers
beat Him about the face with their rods! Others,
including the servants smote Him with their hands. The rod would
cut into the flesh, leaving a contused wound.
2)
THE LACERATED WOUND - produced
by a tearing instrument.
The
Romans used the cruel cat-of-nine tails to scourge criminals. On
the end of the whip were nine pieces of leather to which were
attached sharp ivory or metal balls with protruding nails. As the
whip was cracked, it would tear out pieces of the flesh. Jewish
law demanded that not more than 40 lashes be administered, since
often the victim would faint or even die during the scourging.
The
Romans did not need to adhere to Jewish law. As a matter of fact,
crucifixion was a Roman mode of execution! The Romans always
scourged a condemned man before crucifying him.
Some
historians and Church Fathers believe that Jesus Christ may have
received many more than 39 stripes. The more punishment a
prisoner took on the whipping pole, the shorter was the guard duty
for the Roman Soldiers at the scene of execution.
Since
the Jewish leadership had accused Him of perverting the people,
the Romans certainly had no reason to "go easy" on
Him! And no doubt the tough Roman soldiers would have been happy
to see Jesus squirm and cry out - especially since he had refused
to talk to the Governor!
We
do know that St. Paul was whipped by the Jews on five separate
occasions: "Of the Jews five times received I forty
stripes save one." (2 Corinthians 13:24) Paul was
not a candidate for crucifixion, by the Romans. He was prosecuted
under the jurisdiction of the Jewish hierarchy.
If
Jesus received 39 stripes in Pilate's Judgment Hall, that would
have inflicted a total of 351 gashes on His lacerated back. If He
received more than 39 stripes, the gashes would have been more
numerous.
THE
WOUNDS OF CHRIST PURCHASED OUR HEALING: SPIRITUAL, MENTAL
AND PHYSICAL
The
Old Testament prophet declared, "The ploughers ploughed
upon My back. They made long furrows." (Psalms 129:3)
Seven hundred and fifty years earlier, Isaiah had prophesied
concerning the Messiah, "I gave My back to the smiters" (Isaiah
50:6)
"But
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with
His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5) St.
Matthew records, "Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and
scourged Him." (Matthew 27:20; John 19:1)
Prisoners
who were scourged usually lost a lot of blood and sometimes
fainted. Jesus suffered the agonizing and brutal scourging for us!
3)
THE PENETRATING WOUND: a
deep wound caused by a sharp, pointed instrument.
The
crown of thorns that was pressed upon the head of Jesus caused
such wounds. The Jerusalem thorn, known as the Arabian Nebulae,
was 4 inches long and as sharp as a needle. The cruel diadem
containing over 100 spiculets, was driven into His head with blows
from the rod.
The
Bible Scriptures record, "And when they had platted a
crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His
right hand: and they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him,
saying, Hail, King of the Jews." (Matthew 27:29)
"Then
came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple
robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!" (John
19:5)
It
was the Governor's intention to scourge Jesus and then release
him. He had hoped the pitiful sight of a weary, weak and
bloodies man would satisfy their blood lust and evoke sympathy for
the prisoner. Instead of being satisfied, they craved more blood,
crying out "Away with Him, crucify Him, crucify
Him!" (Matthew 27:22-23)
THORNS
SPEAK OF THE ORIGINAL CURSE
Thorns
speak of the original curse, "Cursed is the ground for
thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy
life;" "Thorns also and thistles shall it
bring forth unto thee..." (Geneses 3:17-18)
JESUS
TOOK THE CURSE FOR US
Jesus
Christ bore the penalty for our sins, transgressions,
sicknesses, diseases and pains! St. Paul writes, "Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for
us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.
"That
the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus
Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through
faith." (Galatians 3:13-14)
In
the book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, Moses enumerates the
blessings of keeping covenant with God. He also lists the curses!
The curses include sickness, disease, insanity, torments,
plagues, pestilence, famine and war. The Apostle to the
Gentiles states unequivocally that, "Christ hath
redeemed us from the curse of the law." So we are free.
The
Roman soldiers tried to drive Jesus insane by beating that crown
of sharp Arabian Nebulae into His head. But He didn't lose His
sanity but rather through this horrible experience purchased our
peace and tranquility.
"And
having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to
reconcile all things unto Himself." (Colossians 1:20)
Because
of the penetrating wounds He bore for us, WE HAVE PEACE!
4)
THE PERFORATING WOUND: From
the Latin word; "to pierce through".
A Messianic
psalm stated, "They pierced My hands and My feet" (Psalms 22:16)
At the time of David's prophecy, he knew nothing of crucifixion,
for the Hebrew method of capitol punishment was stoning!
The
prophet Zechariah also foretold of the Messiah's death by
crucifixion. "And one shall say unto Him, What are these
wounds in Thine hands? Then shall He answer, Those with which I
was wounded in the house of My friends." (Zechariah
13:6)
By
the time Jesus was born, the Romans had conquered Palestine and
crucifixion had become the mode of execution. The New Testament
records: "And when they were come... to Calvary, there
they crucified Jesus." (Luke 23:33; John 19:16-18)
The
Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) Jesus
Christ suffered the torments, agony, pain and death of the most
horrible of all deaths - The Death of Crucifixion! He suffered for
us. He bled for us. He died for us! And He arose again from the
dead, for us!
5)
THE INCISED WOUND: a cut
produced by a sharp edged instrument.
"But
one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith
came there out blood and water." (John 19:34)
As
the Sabbath was approaching the soldiers helped speed up the
expiration of the victims by smashing their thigh bones, thus
allowing asphyxiation. When the Roman soldier came to Jesus, he
noticed that He was already dead. The soldier then went on to the
thief on Jesus' other side and with his large axe, smashed the
femur bone (thigh bone) causing a quicker death.
In
order to verify Jesus' death, the soldier then plunged his spear
into the left side of Jesus!
This
fulfilled the scripture, "They shall look upon Him Whom
they have pierced." (Zechariah 12:10) So large was the
wound that after the resurrection, Thomas "the doubter"
was invited to thrust his hand into that wound.
"Then
saith He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands;
and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not
faithless, but believing." (John 20:27)
St.
John was standing near the cross and noticed blood and water
coming out of His side. The pericardium is a closed sac
encasing the heart, lubricated by a small amount of fluid to
facilitate the motion of the heart.
Mallory
& Wright's pathological technique answers the question,
"How could John have seen such a small amount of water flow
out of the wound? The normal amount (of pericardial fluid) is
about a teaspoon, but it may be increased to 100 c.c. (24
teaspoonfuls) where death agony is prolonged.
Another
miracle was that contrary to nature, blood flowed from a dead man,
proving that the blood of Jesus did not die but is efficacious
even today !
"There
is a fountain filled with blood, Drawn from Emmanuel's veins,
And sinners plunge beneath the flood, Lose
all their guilty stains."
The
blood and water which St. John saw coming out of the side of
Christ may also have been the physiological aspect of death.
Medical
science teaches that, "Blood in a cadaver readily separates
into clear serum and red blood cells, thus certifying that the
person is clinically dead." It could be that both of these
things were happening at once. Either way, it proves that the
death of Jesus was a reality and that there is life through His
precious blood.
The
Bible says, "Without the shedding of blood there is no
remission of sins." (Leviticus 17:11,14); "It is
the blood that maketh atonement for the soul." (Hebrews
9:22) "And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth
us from all sins." (1 John 1:7)
THE
BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, SHED FOR US ALL ON GOLGOTHA, HAS PURCHASED
OUR SALVATION
I)
WE RECEIVE FORGIVENESS OF OUR SINS THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"In
Whom we have redemption through His blood, even THE FORGIVENESS OF
SINS, according to the riches of His grace." (Ephesians
1:7)
(II)
WE RECEIVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"Forasmuch
as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as
silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition
from your fathers;"
"But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish
and without spot:" (1 Peter 1:18-19). "Take heed
therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which
the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God,
which He hath purchased with His own blood." (Acts
20:28)
(III)
WE RECEIVE CLEANSING FROM SIN THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"But
if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, And the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth
us from all sins." (1 John 1:7)
(IV)
WE ARE LOOSED FROM OUR SINS BY HIS BLOOD
"And
from Jesus Christ, Who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth.
Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own
blood." (Revelation 1:5)
(V)
WE ARE JUSTIFIED THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"Much
more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through Him." (Romans 5:9)
"Being
justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through
faith in His blood, to declare the righteousness for the remission
of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"
(Romans 3:24-25)
(VI)
WE RECEIVE PEACE THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"And
having made peace through the death of His cross, by Him to
receive all things unto himself;" (Colossians 1:20)
(VII)
WE RECEIVE ACCESS TO THE FATHER THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the
blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated
for us through the veil, that is to say, His flesh;" (Hebrews
10:19-20)
(VIII)
WE RECEIVE DIVINE HEALING THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"But
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with
His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
"Who
His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose
stripes ye were healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
(IX)
WE RECEIVE VICTORY OVER THE DEVIL THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"And
they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word
of their testimony." (Revelation 12:11)
(X)
WE ARE SANCTIFIED THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"Wherefore
Jesus also, that He might sanctify His people with His own blood,
suffered without the gate." (Hebrews 13:12)
(XI)
WE RECEIVE A CLEAR (PURGED) CONSCIENCE THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"How
much more shall the blood of Christ, Who through the Eternal
Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience
(mind) from dead works, to serve the Living God?" (Hebrews
9:14)
(XII)
WE RECEIVE ETERNAL GLORY THROUGH HIS BLOOD
"These
are they which come out of great tribulation, and have washed
their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and
night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell
among them..."
"For
the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and
shall lead them unto living fountains of water: and God shall wipe
away all tears from their eyes." (Revelation
7:14-17)
6)
WOUNDS BY MUTILATION -
the plucking out of His beard.
"I
gave My cheeks to them that plucked out the hair." (Isaiah
50:6)
Not
only did they slap and spit upon His face but they yanked out His
beard causing the wounds of mutilation. Can you imagine the awful
pain, as cruel Roman soldiers pulled out His beard! The blood
flowed down upon Christ's chest as cruel tormentors mutilated His
face by tearing out handfuls of His beard.
He
did it for us, because by "His Sore" (original
Hebrew) we are healed! He was "one sore" from
head to toe, by the time He had undergone the full mistreatment
which the Roman soldiers heaped upon Him! He suffered more than
any man and He did it all for us - to purchase our salvation.
7)
WOUNDS BY FALLING:
They
laid the rugged cross upon His lacerated, bleeding back and forced
Jesus to carry His own cross, as was the custom for condemned
criminals. Due to loss of blood because of the scourging, He was
unable to do so.
As
He stumbled and fell, His body received more bruises and sores,
and He suffered more pain, for us.
Historians
claim, that after His striping in Pilate's Judgment Hall, Jesus
was subjected to a heavy wooden cross laid upon His raw, bleeding
back.
Apparently,
the cross bar was tied to His wrists and the stock to His left
ankle. When He stumbled and fell, He had no way to protect
Himself, so His body was further bruised and battered! And Roman
soldiers then forced a stranger, Simon of Cyrene to bear His cross
up Calvary's hill.
"And
He bearing His cross went forth to the place of a skull..." (John
19:17) "And as they led Him away they laid hold upon one
Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid
the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus." (Luke
23:26)
"And
they compel one Simon a Cyrenian who passed by, coming out of the
country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear His cross."
(Mark 15:21) Alexander became a great leader as is recorded in the
Holy Scripture: "And they drew Alexander out of the
multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned
with the hand, and would have his defense unto the people."
(Acts 19: 33)
Apparently
that event caused such an impact upon the Cyrenian that he became
a convert to Christ. And that his two sons also became mighty men
of God and preached the gospel of Christ after His resurrection.
St.
Paul mentions Rufus in his letter: "Salute Rufus chosen of
the Lord, and his mother and mine." (Rom.15: 13) Rufus'
mother was so kind and beloved that Paul referred to her as his
mother also.
CHRIST
WAS WOUNDED FROM HEAD TO FOOT WITH SEVEN WOUNDS IN ORDER TO BRING
US HEALING
And
St. Matthew stated, "When the even was come, they
brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast
out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick:
"That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Easias the prophet,
saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our
sicknesses." (Matthew 8:16-17)
"It
is no wonder, St. Thomas, upon his encounter with the risen Christ
declared, "My Lord and my God." (John 20: 28)
MAY
THE RISEN CHRIST BLESS AND HEAL YOU AS YOU APPROPRIATE HIS
PROMISES FOR YOURSELF.
I
pray you will receive total healing through the wounds and blood
that Jesus Christ shed for you. AMEN.
GOD'S
HEALING
COVENANT
Can Cure Sickness
by:
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
BIBLE
VERSE CAN CURE SICKNESS
"And
said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy
God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give
ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes. I will
put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon
the Egyptians: for I AM the LORD that healeth thee."
(Exodus 15:26)
GOD'S
HEALING COVENANT
One
of the most helpful books in print today is the classic, 'None of
These Diseases' by Dr. S. I. McMillan.
The
author, a prominent medical doctor uses humor, common sense and a
biblical perspective, in dealing with the causes and cures of
today's diseases!
"It
is lamentable that peace does not come in capsules", he
utters in failure as he remembers the thousands of patients who
left his office with "nothing but a prescription for a bottle
of pills that would only relieve the symptoms of their illness but
not attack the disease!"
The
good doctor laments that he now wishes he had rather prescribed
his book, 'None of These Diseases', so that a permanent cure could
have been affected! According to Medical Science, between 60
and 100% of all diseases are caused by nervous tension, emotional
stress and strain.
Dr.
McMillan states that emotions such as fear, sorrow, envy,
resentment and hatred are responsible for the majority of our
sicknesses. And that emotional stress can cause high blood
pressure, toxic goiter, arthritis, migraine headaches, apoplexy,
heart trouble, gastro-intestinal ulcers and other serious
illnesses!
And
recently (about 1996) the American Medical Association released
the findings of a nation-wide survey of tens of thousands of their
medics. One of the questions dealt with their success ratio in
treating patients. The answer is shocking - Only 10% of
patients had received any lasting help through their medical
procedures!
MEDICAL
SCIENCE HISTORY RESTS ON SHAKY FOUNDATION
Having
any problems with falling hair? What do you do to cover up
that bald spot and receding hairline?
Probably
the only solution is to massage your head, comb your hair forward,
get a toupee or just simply let it fall.
If
you had lived about 3500 years ago you would have gotten very
different advice - not from a therapist but from your physician.
He
would have quoted from the famous medical authority of that day,
Papyrus Ebers.
"When
it falls out, one remedy is to apply a mixture of six fats, namely
those of the horse, the hippopotamus, the crocodile, the cat, the
snake and the ibex. To strengthen it, anoint with the tooth of a
donkey crushed in honey.
The
Papyrus Ebers was published about 1552 BC and occupied a dominant
position in the ancient medical world and was one of the leading
guides for practicing physicians for a long time.
There
are literally hundreds of remedies for diseases in this book, such
as lizard's blood, swine's teeth, putrid meat, stinking fat,
moisture from pig's ears, milk goose grease, asses hooves, animal
fat from various sources, excrete from animals, including human
beings, donkeys, antelopes, dogs, cats and even flies.
THROUGH
MOSES, GOD MADE HIS HEALING COVENANT WITH THE JEWISH NATION
Moses
was born about the time the 'Papyrus Ebers' was written in Egypt!
He was educated in their highest schools of learning - scholars
think he was also a physician - as the son of Pharaoh's daughter.
But
when God called Moses to lead His people out of Egyptian bondage,
He did not borrow from the "occultist clap-trap" in
their medical books. He rejected the highest, most respected
medical authority of that day!
His
directive was "Heed the voice of God, do right, obey His
commandments, keep His statutes and I will heal you".
God
did not borrow medical advice from the 'Papyrus Ebers'. His
advice to Moses was contrary to the most highly respected medical
thought of that day.
THE
CHURCH WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN STOPPING THE BLACK DEATH
Millions
of Europeans died of leprosy for hundreds of years. Some
physicians thought the cause was eating hot food or the meat of
diseased hogs. Others blamed malign conjunction of the
planets.
Approximately
60 million people died from the BLACK DEATH in the 14th century.
Dr. George Rosen of Columbia University writes: "Leadership
was taken by the Church, as the physicians had nothing to offer.
The Church took as its guiding principal the concept of contagion
as embodied in the Old Testament."
"Once
the condition of leprosy has been established, the patient was to
be segregated and excluded from the community...it accomplished
the first great feat...in methodical eradication of disease.
Possibly,
the Church needs to investigate measures to insure that the AIDS
epidemic does not leap from high risk groups to the general
population, since governmental and medical bodes are again
"doing nothing"!
God
has given us the solutions to these problems over 3500 years ago,
in The Bible.
For
centuries in Europe, multitudes perished because of improper
hygiene, sanitation and sloppy hospitals. In many villages,
human excrement and waste was dumped into the streets, bringing
deadly epidemics of typhoid, cholera and dysentery.
The
solution to the problem, the burying of wastes, had been given by
God 3500 years before (in Deuteronomy 23:12-13).
HYGIENE
CUT MORTALITY RATE
Vienna
in the 1840s was famous as a medical center. One of the most
famous teaching hospitals of that day was Allegemeine
Krakenhus. In its maternity ward, one out of six women died.
Dr.
Ignaz Semmelveis discovered that if doctors washed their hands
well, after doing autopsies and before examining expectant
mothers, the mortality rate dropped drastically.
Dr.
Semmelveis was not applauded by the Medical Profession.
However, he was ridiculed by his peers, discredited, lost his
position and eventually succumbed to the pressure, dying in a
mental hospital.
Moses
had given the same advice many centuries before (in Numbers 19).
If wasn't until 1878 that the method of cleaning hands and
instruments was introduced by men like John Tyendall, Louis
Pasteur and Sir Joseph Lister that the mortality rate began to
drop.
The
New York State Department of Health, in 1960, issued a book
describing a method of washing the hands very similar to that
found the BIBLE - Numbers Chapter 19.
It's
interesting to note that John Wesley - founder of the Methodist
Church declared that it is God's will for miracles to be in the
Church, for the entire Church age, but have been lost to the
church because of UNBELIEF.
THE
PRAYER OF FAITH WILL HEAL THE SICK
He
further stated, "The only method of physics employed by the
Early Church for the first 400 years, was the prayer of
faith."
Medical
science has come a long way since Papyrus Ebers was published in
1552, BC and even since the 1840's in Vienna, but I still think
that when your family physician advises you to get a second or
third opinion about an operation, its a good idea.
Now
if anyone wants to try the remedy for falling hair, don't let me
discourage you. But then where would you find a hippopotamus these
days?
As
for me and my house, we will Trust the Lord, and trust in God's
Healing Covenant that was given to us all. We will worship
and serve the Lord only.
Max
& Donna Solbrekken welcome you to visit with us, as we share a
little of what God has done through this End-Time Ministry for the
past 45 years. Great miracles of salvation and divine healing have
accompanied the preaching of Christ's Gospel to the multitude
across the world. We are ready and available to minister to your
needs also, in Jesus' name!
"All
things are possible to him that believeth." (Mark 9:23)
How
to receive
DIVINE
HEALING
through
FAITH IN
JESUS CHRIST
by:
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
"He
was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our
iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with
His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
THE
PRAYER OF FAITH SHALL SAVE THE SICK
"Is
any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the
sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed
sins, they shall be forgiven him." (James 5:14-15)
"All
things are possible to him that believeth." (Mark 9:23)
Multitudes
today are suffering from a disease or infirmity with no relief.
They have frequented doctors, clinics and hospitals with little or
no help - and many people are discouraged, angry and bitter!
Many people have prayed earnestly - but have not been healed and
feel that God does not hear them.
"Many
are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him
out of them all." (Psalms 34:19)
IS
THERE ANY SICK AMONG YOU? THERE IS HEALING THROUGH THE
PRAYER OF FAITH
"Ask,
and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and
he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocked it shall be
opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
You
must have faith,
for the Bible says, ..."For the prayer of faith shall save
the sick.." (James 5:15)
Many
people have gone to their church and requested prayer by the
pastor or the elders and are still sick and not healed.
Others have gone to huge evangelistic crusades seeking healing
from Jesus Christ - but still they are not healed. These
people become very discouraged and begin to lose the faith in God
and in healing.
You
may be reading this booklet and you may be discouraged.
You may feel that God doesn't care or hear your prayers.
Your faith may be worn down or gone completely, and you are
tired or being tired, sick and defeated.
You
may feel like throwing up your hands in despair since
nothing helps and your are ready to accept your weakness, your
pain, your sickness and distress as your lot in life.
THERE
IS STILL HOPE FOR YOU - DO NOT GIVE UP
Do
not despair, it's not too late for you. It may seem
hopeless, but it is not. It may seem useless to think of
deliverance or healing, but IT IS NOT. As long as you are
alive, and as long as you have faith - and as long as there is a
GOD in Heaven - there is still HOPE!
The
Bible says, "With men this is impossible, but not with God,
for with God all things are possible." (Mark 10:27) It
may seem impossible to you but with God NOTHING is impossible.
JESUS
IS HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS
Man's
extremity becomes God's opportunity. When man fails,
that's when GOD can take over, for GOD never fails. When man
"gives up on you", GOD is ready, willing and able to
step in and bring to pass a miracle in your life, because nothing
is impossible with Him."
When
God could bring the world into being by His spoken Word, hang the
universe on nothing, fling the sun, moon and stars into the far
most corner of the night to rotate in perfect harmony, HE CAN
ANSWER YOUR PRAYER.
"By
the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of
them by the breath of His mouth." (Psalm 33:6).
Since
GOD has the ability to create millions of moons, galaxies of
stars and heavenly bodies by a few words from Hs lips, most
assuredly He is able to destroy the cancer, heart disease,
diabetes or arthritis which is stealing your health.
With
just the touch of His hand, GOD created a perfect human being in
his own image. GOD then breathed into man's nostrils
the breath of life, making him a living soul. If GOD could
do all this with JUST a touch of His hand - surely he can HEAL
your sick spirit, heal your sick soul (mind) or heal your sick
body.
The
Great GOD who brought back to life the LORD Jesus Christ, can
certainly quicken your mortal body. When you think of how
great and mighty our GOD is, certainly nothing could be impossible
to Him!
St.
Paul declares: "But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus
from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken - make life in - your mortal (temporal, dying)
bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you." (Romans
8:11)
IS
GOD ABLE TO HEAL THE SICK ? YES HE IS ABLE
Is
God able to heal our weak, aging, temporal bodies? Yes, He is able
to and He does! Since He (the Holy Spirit) brought Jesus
Christ back from the dead, He can most certainly heal our diseased
and dying bodies, says St. Paul.
In
Romans 8:26, the great apostle continues, "Likewise the
Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (lit. greek - takes a hold of
against our sicknesses): for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought: but the Spirit itself (Himself) maketh intercession
for us (lit. greek - and together with us) with groanings (Holy
Spirit prayer - praying in tongues) which cannot be uttered."
The
same Blessed Holy Spirit Who raised Jesus Christ from the dead
dwells within us and "takes a hold of against our
sickness" and "together with us" prays to our
Heavenly Father for our healing and deliverance!
YOU
MUST HAVE FAITH
The
Bible says, "All things are possible to him that
believeth." (Mark 9:23) The first truth we have
established is that your case is not too difficult for God and
there is a good possibility of your healing to take place.
But the Bible also states that you must believe and you must have
faith that you will receive healing.
"The
thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and destroy, but I
am come that they might have life and have it more
abundantly." (John 10:10)
Jesus
stated that the devil came for only three reasons; to steal, kill
and destroy! But Jesus came to bring life! The devil is a thief
and a murderer (John 8:44) and came only to do evil (steal, kill
and destroy). He came to rob you of your happiness, joy,
peace, health and blessing. He came to harm you and destroy you in
a hospital, insane asylum or prison.
The
devil is cruel, perverted, evil, wicked and ungodly. He can only
do evil. He has no capability to do good. The devil is the death
giver!
JESUS
IS 100% GOOD!
He came to bring life. He came to bring blessings to all who would
believe. He came to bring ABUNDANT LIFE because he is THE
LIFE GIVER! Some people have given the devil the credit for
healing sick people - this is blasphemous and utterly false. It is
contrary to God's Word and accuses Jesus of telling an
untruth.
JESUS
CHRIST IS TRUTH & LIFE
We
know that Jesus is the truth, the life and the way (John 14:6).
The Word of God is pure, divine and infallible!
Jesus
said that you cannot get good fruit from a corrupt tree or corrupt
frit from a good tree. By their fruits we shall know them!
Jesus said a corrupt tree "bringeth not forth good
fruit" (Matthew 7:18) It is against the law of a thorn
tree to bring forth figs - you can't get sweet water out of a
fountain that is bitter.
Jesus
called the devil a thief who came only to steal, kill and destroy.
He came to earth for no other purpose! Jesus came to bring life!
Healing and health is life! Sickness and disease brings death! The
Bible classifies 'healing' as 'doing good'!
"How
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power,
Who went about doing good, healing all who were oppressed of the
devil." (Acts 10:38)
The
message is plain and simple: The devil made people sick but Jesus
made them well. Sickness comes from satanic sources and divine
healing has its origin in God! The literal Greek states that
Jesus Christ healed all those who "were under the dominion,
authority or lordship of Satan." That is God's Word -
Believe it and be healed. Oh I know there are times that it
appears witch doctors and other occultists may have affected cures
by their incantations. Do not be deceived. Satan is a
deceiver and manipulator. In the end, his involvement always
brings enslavement, torment & death.
The
magicians (witch doctors and soothsayers) of Egypt could duplicate
many of the miracles performed by Moses in the sight of Pharaoh
(king) of Egypt. There were two things they could not do, however.
No.
1 - The magicians could not get rid of the plagues even though
they could duplicate Moses in bringing forth the flies and frogs.
Moses had to be called to get rid of the plagues: examples:
darkness, flies, frogs, lice, locusts. Interpretation: Satan can
bring the cancer but he has no power to heal the person from the
death dealing work of the disease which he has brought. God is the
only healer and restorer!
No.
2 - When it comes to creating life, the magicians could not
create lice out of dust as Moses did in the Name of the Lord.
The
magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God."
(Exodus 8:19) Here is the interpretation: Satan is a deceiver and
trickster but he has no power to do good, heal, save or create
life! All he can do is deceive, lie, steal and kill! Only
God can heal and create life and sustain it!
There
are some things you must do if you are to be healed. Study the
accounts of sick folk - in the Bible - who were healed, and if you
do what they did, you will certainly receive healing, because
Jesus Christ is no respecter of persons!
WHAT
MUST I DO TO BE HEALED THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST
No.
1 - Worship Jesus Christ
No. 2 - Humble yourself before God
No. 3 - Believe in God's Integrity, ability and willingness
to keep his promises
No. 4 -Take God at his word and have faith and keep having faith -
as God to increase your faith
No. 5 - In Faith receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Healer - as
he promised to you
#1
- WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST
There
is only ONE HEALER, Jesus Christ. He alone is the Great Physician.
Seek Him and worship Him, and turn from every known sin. Seek the
Healer and not the healing!
Focus
your attention on Jesus. Worship, praise and magnify His Name and
His love, forgiveness and healing will automatically flow into
you!
"And,
behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, if
Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth His hand,
and touched him, saying, I will, be thou clean. And immediately
his leprosy was cleansed." (Matthew 8:2-3)
By
seeking God through Jesus Christ, you will establish a vital
contact with the Great Physician and receive your miracle! People
who seek only a healing or a miracle without worshipping God, will
be greatly disappointed.
Always
remember, knowing GOD through Jesus Christ and the Blessed Holy
Spirit - without being healed physically - is far more
advantageous than getting only a physical healing miracle without
receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
Jarius
was in a desperate situation. His daughter was at the point of
death when he decided to seek out the Master. Here is the Bible
account.
While
He spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain
ruler, and worshipped Him, saying, My daughter is even now dead:
but come and lay Thy hand upon her, and she shall live. Jesus
arose, and followed him, so did His disciples.
"And,
behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve
years, came behind Him, and touched the hem of His garment: For
she said within herself, If I may but touch His garment, I shall
be whole. But Jesus turned Him about, and when He saw her, He
said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee
whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour."
"And
when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and
the people making a noise, He said unto them, Give place: for the
maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed Him to scorn. But
when the people were put forth, He went in, and took her by the
hand, and the maid arose." (Matthew 9:18-25)
CANAANITE
WOMAN WORSHIPS JESUS AND JESUS HEALS HER DAUGHTER
"And,
behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried
unto Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my
daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But He answered her not
a word. And His disciples came and besought Him, saying, Send her
away; for she crieth after us. But He answered and said, I am not
sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. hen
came she and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, help me."
"But
He answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's
bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the
dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters'
table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is
thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was
made whole from that very hour." (Matthew 15:22-28)
The
Bible states, "And as they went to tell His disciples.
behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held
him by the feet, and worshipped Him." (Matthew 28:9)
GOD
HEARS THE PRAYERS AND ANSWERS THE PRAYERS OF THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM
Without
doubt, God hears and answers the prayers of those who worship Him.
And all who are saved and healed by God's power WILL desire
to worship Him!
The
blind man whom Jesus healed is a good example of that fact:
"Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had
found him, He said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
He answered and said, Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on
Him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen Him, and it is
He that talketh with thee."
"And
he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped Him." (John
9:35-38) To the Samaritan woman, Jesus said, "But
the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall
worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh
such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him
must worship Him in spirit and in truth." (John
4:23-24)
#2
- YOU MUST HUMBLE YOURSELF
Pride
is a gigantic hindrance to receiving divine healing! "But He
answered and said it is not meet to take the children's bread, and
to cast it to dogs."
"And
she said, truth, Lord, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall
from their master's table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her,
O woman, great is thy faith, be it unto thee even as thou wilt.
And her daughter was made whole from that very hour."
(Matthew 15:26-28)
Here
is the account of a Canaanite woman humbling herself in the sight
healed!
Here
is another example of how God rewards humility with healing
"So
Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the
door of the house of Elisha. And Elisha sent a messenger unto him,
saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall
come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean."
"But
Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He
will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the
Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the
leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than
all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So
he turned and went away in a rage."
"And
his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father,
if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not
have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash,
and be clean?"
"Then
went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according
to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like
unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." (2 Kings
5:9-14)
Many
people believe that they will receive something from God because
of WHO THEY ARE OR THINK THEY ARE! We do not receive healing
because we are worthy, but because we are needy. And Jesus Christ
met that need nearly 2000 years ago on the cross!
WE
RECEIVE HEALING FROM GOD BECAUSE OF HIS GRACE AND MERCY
Because
of the mercy and grace of God, we can receive healing from God.
We do not receive healing because we deserve it, we do not receive
healing because we give money or do charity work. We receive
healing because it is a gift from God by his mercy.
It
is only because of His great generosity and mercy to us by sending
His Son Jesus Christ, to die in our place and purchase our
salvation, that we receive forgiveness and divine healing from His
gracious and loving hand!
We
must never forget that forgiveness, divine healing, the gifts and
graces of God which He bestows upon us are simply that - gifts of
God's mercy to us!
#3
- Believe in God's word and the integrity of God to keep his
promises to us
Believe
that God's Word is absolutely true and that it will never pass
away! The Heavens and the Earth will pass away, but God's Word
will stand forever. (Matthew 24:35) God's Word is as pure
and divine as God Himself (John 1:1-4)
STUDY
THE BIBLE - The words you read in The Bible are words of God.
The
Lord GOD Almighty is "back of" His Word, and it
will never fail (1 Kings 8:56). GOD has placed "His
Word" above "His Name" (Psalms 138:2). GOD'S
Word has gone out of His mouth in righteousness and will not
return void.
"So
shall My word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall
not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I
please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
(Isaiah 55:11)
God
will perform every Word He has spoken. "Then said the Lord
unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten My word to perform
it." (Jeremiah 1:12) "So shall My word be that goeth
forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it
shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the
thing whereto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) Believe that
God's Word is the final authority and that it is good
today. Then, appropriate His Word to yourself, your own individual
need.
Jesus
said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath
anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He hath sent
me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty
them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the
Lord." (Luke 4:18-20).
JESUS
ASKED THE BLIND MEN, DO YOU BELIEVE I AM ABLE TO HEAL YOU ?
The
Bible says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by
the Word of God." (Romans 10:17) Jesus asked two blind
men, "Believest thou that I am able to do this (heal
them)?" They answered, "Yea, Lord."
Then
Jesus touched their eyes saying, "According to your faith be
it unto you", and they were instantly healed.
Jesus
said, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him
that believeth." (Mark 9:23)
"Believe
Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me: or else believe
Me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He
that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and
greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My
Father."
"And
whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in
My name, I will do it." (John 14:11-14)
#4
- THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD - TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD
The
Bible says, "...if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice
of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight,
and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes,
I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought
upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord that healeth thee."
(Exodus 15:26)
Jesus
promised: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that
asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
"When
the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed
with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His word, and HEALED
ALL THAT WERE SICK: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by
Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare
our sicknesses." (Matthew 8:16-17)
Seven
hundred years before His birth in Bethlehem, the Holy Spirit
promised divine healing through the Coming Messiah!
"But
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with
His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
Here
is the beginning of the fulfillment of that prophecy: "Who
His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose
stripes ye were healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
JESUS
GAVE HIS CHURCH (US) THREE VERY IMPORTANT SPIRITUAL LAWS
There
are three very important spiritual laws which Jesus Christ gave
His Church:
1.
The Laws of Binding & Loosing
2. The Law of Agreement
3. The Law of God's Presence
These
three laws, when acted upon in faith, bring divine healing and
total deliverance to those who call upon the Lord in sincerity and
trust! "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind
on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose
on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
"Again
I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them
of My Father which is in heaven."
"For
where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in
the midst of them." (Matthew18:18-20)
1.
The Law of Binding & Loosing is found in Matthew 18:18
2. The Law of Agreement is contained in Matthew 18:19
3. The Law of God's Presence is written in Matthew
18:20
For
a full treatment of this subject, write for booklet on 'The Laws
of God & Divine Healing'!
#5
- RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR HEALER
Confess
to the Lord that you Believe His Word and that you Know He is your
Healer!
Concur
with the Scriptures. Agree with Jesus Christ, that you Accept His
promises as true and infallible! Confess to Him that you Believe
that "By His Stripes you are Healed."
Then,
Thank Him for healing you and Trust the Lord for complete
deliverance. Relax and get well for according to His Word, He has
healed you!
The
Bible says, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him;
and He shall bring it to pass." (Psalm 37:5)
Jesus
said, "Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall
have them." (Mark 11:24)
You
may receive an IMMEDIATE healing miracle. You may be healed
suddenly or you may begin to amend as also happened in the
ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Then
enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said
unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the
father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said
unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole
house." (John 4:52-53)
READ
WITH JOY THESE WORDS OF LIFE & HEALING: "Is any sick among you? let him
call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of
faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if
he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."
"Confess
your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may
be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much." (James 5:14-16)
You
may receive divine healing in one of various ways - through the
laying on of hands, anointing with oil, prayer of agreement or
praying alone to our Heavenly Father in Jesus' dear Name, in your
home!
GOD
CAN HEAL YOU WHERE EVER YOU ARE, AT ANY TIME, IF YOU ARE ALONE OR
WITH OTHERS
It
really doesn't matter at all which way the LORD God heals you.
As long as you are healed is all that matters. Praise be the LORD
!
PRAISE
& WORSHIP THE LORD AND GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY
Give
God all the glory. Share with others what God has done so that you
may rejoice together and glorify the Name of Jesus. Remember,
Jesus said in Mark 9:23 - "ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM
THAT BELIEVETH."
Allow
me now to offer a prayer to God on your behalf.
"Kind
Heavenly Father, I pray in Jesus' Name that you will extend Your
hand of mercy, forgiveness and divine healing right now to each
and everyone who is reading this booklet.
Upon
the authority of God's Word, by the blood of the everlasting
covenant, through the eternal Spirit of God and in Jesus' all
powerful Name, I command Satan to take his hands off each one
reading this booklet now!
Every
evil spirit of torment, infirmity and unrighteousness must leave
NOW, in Jesus' Name.
Heavenly
Father, please lay your healing hand on the sick, infirm and
sinful right now and save, heal and deliver them all. THANK
YOU LORD. I BELIEVE IT IS DONE!
GOD'S
GUARANTEE
to
ANSWER
PRAYER
by:
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
Jesus
said, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him"? (Luke 11:13)
DOES
GOD ANSWER PRAYERS?
We
can come to God in prayer anytime, anywhere, and we can expect to
receive an answer from God.
God's
Word says, "Call unto Me, and i will answer thee, and shew
thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
(Jeremiah 33:3)
IF
WE WANT ANSWERS FROM GOD, WE MUST CALL UPON HIS NAME
When
we pray we anticipate God will answer us, but if we want God to
answer us, we must call upon His Name!
Jesus
said, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him"? (Luke 11:13)
"Come
unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
"And
him that cometh unto Me, I shall in no wise cast out." (John
6:37)
"Ask
and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find. Knock and it
shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth, he
that seeketh findeth and to him that knocketh it shall be
opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
"Behold
I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice and open
the door, I will come into him and will sup with him and he with
Me." (Revelation 3:20)
"Call
unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty
things which thou knowest not." (Jeremiah 33:3)
"I
will never leave thee nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5)
GOD'S
GUARANTEE TO ANSWER PRAYERS
The
Bible is the authoritative, divinely inspired and perfect WORD OF
GOD! God's signature is on the original autographs,
written by holy men as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
St.
Peter emphasized, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of
the scripture is of any private interpretation."
"For
the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men
of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2
Peter 1:20-21)
MARTIN
LUTHER DID NOT SEE A BIBLE UNTIL HE WAS
OVER 20 YEARS OF AGE
Martin
Luther had not seen a Bible until he was more than 20 years old
and his colleague Dr. Carlstadt had received his doctorate in
theology from a prestigious Roman Catholic Seminary without ever
reading the Bible!
THE
ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH REFUSED CHRISTIAN LAYMAN TO STUDY AND READ
THE HOLY SCRIPTURES FOR 100's OF YEARS
For
hundreds of years the Roman Catholic Church refused Christian
laymen the right to read and study the Holy Scriptures. They
claimed that it was too deep. "Only an educated priest or
theologian could understand God's Word", they pontificated!
This of course, was a trick of the devil!
THIS
WAS A TRICK OF THE DEVIL - SATAN KNOWS THE POWER OF GOD'S
WORD
Satan
knows how powerful God's Word is and so was using this deceptive
tactic to keep people in bondage. Jesus said, "Ye shall know
the truth and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)
No
wonder Martin Luther stated, "The papacy is a general chase
(hunting expedition) in which the Bishop of Rome is seeking to
capture and bring to hell as many unsuspecting people as he
can."
Sadly,
Roman Catholic Theologians put their own private interpretation on
God's Word, as do The Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and other
religious cults today.
When
St. Peter said, "No prophecy of the scripture is of any
private interpretation...." What did he mean?
St.
Paul was simply saying:: God interprets the Scripture, Himself.
The
message God wants you to receive is not what a certain sect or
denomination reads into the scripture, but what He (God) is
communicating!
HOW
DOES GOD INTERPRET THE SCRIPTURES ?
God
interpret the scriptures by using other scriptures which the Holy
Spirit has anointed! Scripture interprets scripture and God
does not contradict His Word. When taken in context, you will find
that there are NO contradictions in The Holy Bible!
The
Holy Spirit and the Word of God agree totally, for the Holy Spirit
anointed holy men to write the scripture, and God has no mental
block or speech impediment!
GOD
SAID WHAT HE MEANT AND MEANT WHAT HE SAID - God
honours His Word today with all power and authority.
Jesus
Christ Himself is the Living Word of God while the Holy canon of
scripture, the Bible, is the written Word of God. Therefore, if
you will believe the Word of God and appropriate it for yourself,
Jesus Christ will come out of the pages of this holy book and come
into your heart. This offer from Christ is open to every person in
the entire world, regardless of age, race or color. This
offer is worldwide and has no strings attached.
St.
Paul said, "For what if some did not believe? shall their
unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea,
let God be true, but every man a liar..." (Romans 3:3-4)
There
are more than 33,000 promises of blessings in the Bible and they
all have to do with God's dealings with mankind! His promises are
not for angelic beings, but for lost, sinful, sick and fallen man.
His promises are for you and me!
1)
CHRIST'S INVITATION IS GENUINE
Jesus
invited, "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
The
most beautiful word in any language is 'Come'. This is a word of
invitation and when Jesus calls, we must always be ready to answer
His call!
CHRIST
SAID "COME UNTO ME" - HE IS INVITING YOU TO COME TO HIM
IN PRAYER
He
said, "Come unto Me". He is the only one with solutions
to our problems and answers to our questions! How do we
come unto God? The only way we can respond to His invitation
of "Come Unto Me", in through Prayer. Prayer
is our direct communication with God.
PRAYER
IS OUR DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH THE ALMIGHTY GOD
While
on a visit to the USA some years ago, the then Soviet Union's
communist president Mikhail Gorbachev stated, "Only Jesus
Christ had the solutions to every problem. I don't possess that
skill."
When
asked by US reporters, the reason for glasnost, perestroika and
the new freedom of religion which was happening in his country,
Gorbachev replied: "JESUS CHRIST"!
As
startled reporters asked him to repeat his answer, he stated
without hesitation: "JESUS CHRIST". Then, as if
realizing what he had just said, Gorbachev quickly changed the
subject.
GORBACHEV
STATED: "ONLY JESUS CHRIST HAS THE SOLUTION TO EVERY
PROBLEM"
Christ's
invitation is to "all who labour and are heavy laden",
and that takes us all in. Gorbachev was right: Only Jesus Christ
has the solution to every problem!
In
The Bible, which is the Word of God, our LORD promises rest and
peace to all the world, to anyone who responds to His Invitation.
We all need a new meeting with Jesus. No one in this world
is exempt from the cares, burdens, frustrations, temptations,
pressures, sicknesses and other pitfalls of Satan. These are all
of the world and of the flesh. But God promises that prayer
can change all this.
WE
ALL FACE TRIALS & TEMPTATIONS
We
are all constantly facing testing, temptations and trials in
various forms and fashions. The ability to pay our debts -
due to unemployment, unreasonable taxation or sickness - are some
of the biggest stress producers in this generation.
OUR
FAITH IS SORELY TRIED AS WE DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS OF LIFE
The
problems of life can test our faith as we deal with things like
family break-up among children, grandchildren, relatives and
friends. But Christ Jesus has promised us total victory, a release
from tension and an abiding peace as we look to Him alone and keep
our trust in His Word.
Hear
His Word again: "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
If
you will notice, Christ didn't say Come to a certain
religious body or embrace a certain philosophy, ideology or
theology...but He said, "Come unto Me", and every person
in this world is included in this offer.
Jesus
didn't mention His mother Mary or His inner circle disciples
Peter, James or John or His half-brother James who became the
first authority as Pastor of the world's first Pentecostal Church
(the church was born on the day of Pentecost and exhibited
supernatural signs and wonders) in Jerusalem!
CHRIST
DIDN'T TELL US TO GO TO A HIGH PRIEST, RABBI OR PASTOR - HE SAID,
"COME UNTO ME"
JESUS
CHRIST didn't say come to the prophet, the apostle, the high
priest or the rabbi, pastor, or evangelist. He said,
"Come unto Me"!
You
will not find a single account in the Bible, of Jesus Christ ever
turning anyone away. Jesus met the needs of every person who
asked Him for help.
What
a reassuring feeling it is to know that Jesus Christ honours His
Word. When you are in need or a miracle healing or are in
danger and must have an answer to your prayers, you can depend on
the LORD Jesus Christ. He has given us the Invitation,
"Come Unto Me", it is up to us to respond to His
invitation, through prayer.
MY
OWN TESTIMONY OF GOD ANSWERING PRAYER
I
can verify that God is a "God at hand and not a God afar
off". (Jeremiah 23:23) I can confirm that God answers
prayer, through my own personal testimony.
In
1984, my team and I were conducting a crusade in Northern India,
when a staggering miracle occurred. I had planned to have a
very large crusade in the South, where nearly all visiting
evangelists go.
Previously
I had been in the South and Central parts of India, but had not
ventured into the North where the zealous, devout and often
fanatical Brahmin Hindus have almost total power. In fact,
for the previous twenty years, the number of Christians had
declined there each year!
Thousands
of pastors were ready to embrace our ministry in the South, and we
were expecting 100,000 persons on the opening night, with
prospects of larger crowds as the crusade progressed. And I
was excited about going!
GOD
CHANGED MY PLANS TO GO TO NORTH INDIA
Then
God changed my plans and I was challenged to go to North India, to
a very intellectual city of Brahmin Hindus and Moslems.
The
Hindus had just completed a ten day revival, in preparation for
our coming, in order to rejuvenate the people in their beliefs.
This was also done to warn the people of the gospel!
On
the first night of our crusade, 1/4 million Moslems were in the
streets in a gigantic parade, to start 21 days of fasting in a
celebration called Ramadan!
We
started with 3,000 people on the opening night, backed by two
Methodist churches and about 120 zealous young people, from across
Asia, working with a group called "Christ is the
Answer".
MY
MESSAGE WAS TITLED, "JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY
AND FOREVER"
My
message was entitled, "Jesus Christ the same Yesterday, Today
and Forever"! I declared the gospel of Christ according to
St. Peter: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for
there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
I
PRESENTED THE CLAIMS OF CHRIST, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH
AND THE LIFE"
Without
fear of contradiction I presented the claims of Christ where He
stated: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by Me". (John 14:6) "I am the door:
by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and
out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and
to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and
that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:9-10)
I
quoted St. Paul: "For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Saviour: Who will have all men to be saved, and
to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave
Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
(1 Timothy 2:3-6)
I
declared that Jesus Christ was the only begotten Son of God - that
He was born of a virgin, His sinless less, His miracle ministry,
His victorious death and His glorious resurrection.
Less
than 100 came forward for salvation in the first service, but God
performed several miracles of healing in answer to my prayer!
The
next evening there were 6,000 in attendance. Again I shared the
Word of God. I chose for my text Acts 17:18-32 where St. Paul
preached his famous Mars Hill message, "The Unknown
God".
I
SAID, "I SAW YOUR IMAGES, IDOLS & GODS MADE OF WOOD
& STONE - THEY ARE DEAD AND LIFELESS"
I
said, "I entered your city last evening and beheld your
temples and places of worship - I saw your images, idols and gods!
Idols that are made of wood, stone, plaster of paris and plastic;
gods that have eyes that see not, ears that hear not, mouths that
cannot speak, hands that have never helped anyone and feet that
are stationary"!
I
continued, "They are dead and lifeless, and so ignorant that
if I were to slap their faces, they wouldn't have enough sense to
move out of the way or say ouch."
Then
I presented Jesus Christ, the only true Saviour of the world and
the Son of the Living God.
At
precisely 9:00 PM as I was making the altar call, suddenly loud
speakers began blaring out an opposing message - in the Hindi
language - in the very same venue which we were using!
THE
HINDU RELIGIOUS LEADERS WANTED TO STOP THE WORD OF GOD BEING TOLD
AND KILL ME, IF NECESSARY
Hindu
religious leaders had called a meeting and decided to conduct
another 10 day revival of their own, in the same park we had
permission to use.
They
had already alerted the police that there would be a riot on the
crusade grounds and 50 fanatics with stones & sticks were on
their way to start an uproar, stop the crusade and kill me, if
necessary!
On
those same grounds, two years previously, the Moslems had started
a riot in a Christian crusade, in order to stop the meetings.
Moslem fanatics had overturned a bus with 17 men, women and
children, poured gasoline on it, setting it ablaze and killing
them all! Of course, everyone fled and the crusade was
history!
More
than thirty years earlier, a well known American evangelist was
conducting a successful crusade in North India. Fanatics began a
riot and he had to leave.
The
Indian government then declared him non-grata-persona, effectively
barring him from the country since his crusades were dangerous and
prone to violence and riots. In this manner the bigots had
stopped one of the world's greatest soul winners from preaching in
that nation for more than 3 decades!
The
fanatics wanted me stopped from preaching the Gospel of Christ,
but God intervened.
Just
as the fanatics were entering the grounds, I was making the altar
call. More than 500 people were so gripped by the message and by
the Holy Spirit, that they rushed forward to accept Christ.
I
prayed a powerful prayer, rebuking the Devil and calling upon God.
Then
as I prayed a powerful prayer, rebuking the devil and calling upon
God - in Jesus' Name - for miracles among the people, a 6 year old
boy who was lame in one leg from birth was instantly healed!
His
parents who were Brahmin Hindus rushed forward to testify, along
with their healed son. Upon hearing the commotion and the
testimony, the fanatics asked, "Who is that man? Is he a
prophet?" Those around them in the crowd said,
"Yes, he is a prophet from Canada".
They
then dropped their stones & sticks saying, "We'll give
him another day", and pulled down their loud speakers!
The
next evening I preached on "God's love and the Blood of
Jesus"
The
next evening the crowd grew to 10,000 and I preached on
"God's Love and the Blood of Jesus"! The fanatics
who had previously wanted to hurt me, now wanted to kiss my
feet... And the revival continued with the crowd growing to
approximately 40,000 persons.
And
according to the last reports we have had, the Christian community
was not only strengthened but also is growing! Thousands enrolled
in the New Converts Class, by mail. And hundreds took special
courses for Christian Ministry! To God be the glory!
At
the time of this writing (December, 1992), we have just heard the
sad news that another well known American evangelist has very
recently been banned from India for the same reason. Hindu
fanatics took over his crusade declaring that he was fabricating
lying testimonies of people who claimed to be healed!
We
can come to God anytime, anywhere and expect to receive an answer!
God's
Word says, "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew
thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
(Jeremiah 33:3)
God's
word says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee...and show
you great and mighty things."
All
of us have times of difficulty and trouble, and God is more
willing to give than we are to ask. In fact, Jesus said,
"Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall
receive, that your joy may be full." (John 16:24)
GOD'S
INVITATION IS "COME UNTO ME" AND "CALL UPON HIS
NAME"
We
are invited to call upon Him in the day of trouble and He will
deliver us and show us His mighty arm outstretched, in signs,
wonders and miracles!
All
we must do is call, and He will answer! It is humbling for us to
acknowledge our weakness and need for help. It is humbling for us
to request assistance from an outside force in this proud,
efficient and materialistic world, in which we live.
IF
WE WANT ANSWERS TO PRAYER, WE MUST CALL UPON GOD
Jesus
said, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him"? (Luke 11:13)
Again
our Lord stated, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith
the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white
as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as
wool." (Isaiah 1:18)
Jesus
invited, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that
asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
WE
MUST SPEND TIME IN PRAYER AND LEARN TO PRAY - WE MUST ASK GOD
FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS
The
simplest thing in the world for anyone to do is to ask for
something. And yet, it can be the most difficult! We must spend
time in prayer, learn to pray.
To
ask God for forgiveness, we must acknowledge our failings and our
sins.
To
ask God for guidance or for strength, we must acknowledge our
weakness.
To
ask God for divine healing, we must admit that we are sick and
that we need help!
But
Jesus made it so easy! He said, we must become like little
children and ask with child-like faith and expectation. And
His promise is sure and guaranteed to work. He will keep His Word!
Jesus
said, "If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall
ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7)
Again
He stated, "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and
ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that
your fruit should remain:"
"That
whatsoever ye ask of the Father in My name, He may give it
you." (John 15:16)
WITHOUT
CHRIST, WE ARE HOPELESS LOST AND WE ARE POWERLESS AGAINST SATAN
We
must remember Who our Source is. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and
the Holy Spirit gives us the power to function by His grace. And
the Word of God is Supreme, that God may be all in all!
Jesus
promised, "But ye shall receive power after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto Me..."
(Acts 1:8) Again our Master stated, "Without Me, ye can
do nothing"! (John 15:5)
And
our Lord said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. I
will be with you until the end of the world." (Hebrews 13:5)
2)
PRAYER REQUESTS SHOULD BE SPECIFIC AND WELL NEEDED - WE MUST ASK
IN FAITH
When
we approach God's Throne of Grace, we must ask specifically for
what we need or desire! We must be specific so that we can
prioritize our request and focus on our needs, or the needs of
others all over the world. Prayer requests should be
specific and well needed.
It
is important to lay out our needs in a definite request, believing
that He hears us and will keep His promise!
FAITH
IS EXPECTING AN ANSWER WHEN YOU PRAY - FAITH IS TRUSTING GOD
Faith
is expecting an answer when you pray. Faith is trusting God so
implicitly, that when you have met the conditions He has set forth
in His GREAT DOCUMENT, the Bible, He will respond favorably!
The
Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)
Here
is Moffat's translation of this verse:
FAITH
MEANS WE ARE CONFIDENT OF WHAT WE HOPE FOR
"Faith
means we are confident of what we hope for; convinced of what we
do not see."
Faith
is like the title deed to a property you own but have never seen.
You know it is yours because it has been bequeathed to you in a
will or it has been given to you as a gift - possibly in another
part of the world, and you still haven't received it or seen it.
That
is how faith works. You have God's promises regarding prayer and
His desire to answer, but the things you prayed for haven't
happened yet!
YOU
MUST KEEP TRUSTING, BELIEVING AND EXPECTING THE ANSWER WILL COME
Keep
on trusting, expecting and believing and the answer will come.
Loved ones will come to Christ, sicknesses will he healed by God's
power and your many prayer requests will be answered when you pray
in the Name of Jesus!
The
Bible says, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him;
and He shall bring it to pass." (Psalms 37:5) Jesus showed us
how faith works in Mark 11:22-24:
"And
Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I
say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his
heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say
unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that
ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
In
my opinion, Hebrews 11:1 is a theologian's definition of faith.
The layman's definition of faith is found in verse 6.
"But
without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh
to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 1:6)
WHAT
IS FAITH? FAITH IS 3 VITAL THINGS:
Faith
is coming to God with your needs and making your requests known to
Him.
By
asking God for help you are exhibiting faith! This proves that you
believe He is greater than yourself and your need!
You
are in fact saying: "Lord you are bigger than I am and more
powerful and that is why I am approaching you for help"!
You
wouldn't come to God for help if you didn't believe He could help
you!
FAITH
IS BELIEVING THAT GOD EXISTS
Faith
is believing that God is real, that He is eternally existent in
three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy
Spirit! And that He is omnipotent, omnipresent and eternal!
FAITH
IS BELIEVING THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD
Faith
is believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on
the cross for our sins and arose from the dead for our
justification.
FAITH
IS BELIEVING IN THE GOD OF THE BIBLE
The
Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) Faith
is a reality!
Faith
is a fact and also action, because "faith without works is
dead, being alone." (James 2:26) Faith
is now! And faith is a present day reality and faith gets the job
done - Faith Works Miracles!
FAITH
IS BELIEVING AND EXPECTING
Faith
is expecting a miracle when we pray! Here is our Lord's
invitation to you: "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
DEAR
FRIEND:
Please write with your prayer requests. We
will pray for you and I will write you back! When you write,
please ask for a free prayer cloth over which we have prayed with
faith in Jesus' Name, for your deliverance and salvation.

HOW
CAN I BE SAVED?
God
is able, ready & willing to deliver you!
by: Pastor Max Solbrekken,
D.D.
Jesus
said, "Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest." (Matthew
11:28)
Yes,
my dear friend, God is still in the business of setting men and
women free from their sins, sorrows, heartbreaks, fears and
troubles.
In
this age of frustrations, nervous tensions and mental collapses,
Jesus Christ is still granting peace to the troubled, joy to the
discouraged, strength to the weary and healing to the sick.
HOW
CAN I BE SAVED?
1.
ACKNOWLEDGE
your sinful state (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6)
2. BELIEVE
the Gospel (Acts 16:30-31; John 3:26)
3. REPENT
of your sins (Luke 13:3; Isaiah 55:7)
4. RECEIVED
Christ as your Saviour (John 3:16; Revelation 3:20; 1 John 5:12)
5. CONFESS
Him as your Lord (Romans 10:9-10; Mark 8:34-38)
JESUS
CHRIST CAME INTO THE WORLD ON A HOLY MISSION !
"For
God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that
the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:17)
Jesus
declared, "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save
that which was lost." (Luke 19:10)
Jesus
Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by Me". (John 14:6)
Salvation
is totally a WORK OF GRACE, but we must be sincere in our
prayers and believe in Jesus Christ's willingness to keep His
Word; which He always does. Jesus Christ offers salvation
and gift of salvation is free to all who accept it. If
you wish to be saved you must:
No.
1 - Acknowledge your lost state!
The
Bible says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God". (Romans 3:23) "All we like sheep have
gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord
hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)
No.
2 - Believe the Gospel
"That
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal
life. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already." (John 3:15,18)
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and
believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall
not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto
life." (John 5:24)
No.
3 - REPENT of your sins
The
Bible says, "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish." (Luke 13:3) "Let the wicked forsake his way
and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the
Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will
abundantly pardon". (Isaiah 55:7)
No.
4 - Receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour
The
Bible says: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16)
"Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open
the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
with Me." (Revelation 3:20) "He that hath the Son
hath life: and he that hath not the Son of God hath not
life." (1 John 5:12)
No.
5 - Confess Jesus Christ as your LORD
The
Bible says: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation". (Romans 10:9-10)
"Also
I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him
shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the
angels of God." (Luke 12:8,9)
Dear
friend, be assured that God will keep His Word,
for He said:
"Come
unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest." (Matthew 11:28) "Jesus stood and cried,
saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink."
(John 7:37)
"Come
now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins
be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red
like crimson, they shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1:18)
After
you have prayed to God asking Him to forgive you - then you must
believe He has heard your prayer and forgiven your sins. That is
faith. You say that is hard to do. No - it isn't.
If
you believe that God told the truth and the Bible is God's word -
God will do what He said He would do. If you have prayed the
sinner's prayer asking God to forgive you, (then he has forgiven
you; His word tells you that and His word is the truth) and if you
are forgiven, then you are saved.
You
must then continue to live in God's way - you must live for God.
Believe that you are saved, begin to praise and worship God and
thank him for saving your soul.
But
you have doubts and say, "I don't feel any different."
You say you still feel the way you did before, you don't feel like
you are saved.
Always
remember, you are NOT SAVED by your feelings, you are saved by
FAITH IN GOD'S WORD. If God said it - it is the truth, whether you
feel like it or not. However, when you stand of God's word and by
faith accept the Salvation that God offers, you WILL FEEL
DIFFERENT.
Please
write to me and let us know of your decision to serve the Lord!
And what He has done for you. Always remember, Jesus loves you and
wants too forgive, heal, bless and prosper you.
HOW
DO I INVITE
JESUS CHRIST INTO MY LIFE?
Pray
to God, a prayer - from your heart.
Tell Him that you
are a sinner and that you need forgiveness. Tell him that
you believe Jesus Christ died for your sins. Tell him that
you are willing to change, to turn away from sin. Ask Jesus
Christ to come into your heart and life and be your personal
Saviour.
"But
as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
"Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2
Corinthians 5:17)
If
you prayed and ask Jesus Christ into your heart - YOU HAVE NOW
RECEIVED THE GIFT OF SALVATION - YOU HAVE BECOME A CHILD OF GOD.
God Bless You.

the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I

He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the
