SINS
OF THE
JEWISH NATION EXPLAINED
by: Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
SURVIVAL
OF ISRAEL OR THE END OF ISRAEL?
Hosea
5:15 - "I will go and return to my place; til they
acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction
they will seek me early."
This
is one of the most significant scriptures in the entire Bible
dealing with the 'Second Coming', the rapture of Jesus Christ our
Lord."
"Come,
and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he
will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will
he revive us: in the
third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His
sight." (Hosea 6:1-2)
WHAT
WERE THE SINS OF THE JEWISH NATION?
Thousands
of years ago, the Old Testament prophet pin-pointed the sins of
the Jewish nation in:
No.
1 - The Jewish nation breaking the Mosaic Covenant and
No.
2 - The Jewish nation rejecting their Messiah, Jesus Christ, as well
as their terrible suffering and return to God in repentance and faith
in the last days
For
nearly 2000 years, the Church of Jesus Christ has lived in the
hope of His promised return. Old Testament prophets HAD FORETOLD
IN DETAIL the time and place of His virgin birth, His sinless
life, His miraculous ministry, His vicarious death and His
glorious resurrection. They also prophesied His second advent and
triumphant millennial reign.
WHY
HAS THE JEWISH NATION SUFFERED AND BEEN PERSECUTED OVER THE
MILLENNIA'S?
THE
UNDERLYING REASON for the terrible suffering, pain and sorrows
meted out to the Jews of the Jewish Nation over centuries and
millennia, is because they broke the covenant Moses made with God
on their behalf.
If
you doubt that, read the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy which details
the blessings of God upon Israel if they keep the covenant
(Deuteronomy 28:1-14) and the curses of God upon Israel if
they break the covenant (Deuteronomy 28: 15-68).
THE
SECOND REASON the Jews have been hated and persecuted for
thousands of years - which actually only accounts for only a
limited period of 'one generation' - is that the Jewish Nation
rejected their Messiah!
Jesus
stated, "Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and
wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify;
and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute them from city to city:
THAT
UPON YOU (only that specific generation which rejected Jesus as
their Messiah, not subsequent generations!) may come all the
righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous
Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew
between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these
things shall come upon this generation."
"O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest
them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy
children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her
wings, and ye would not!
"Behold,
your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall
not see Me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that
cometh in the name of the Lord." (Matthew 23:34-39 KJV)
THE
JEWS REJECTING THE MESSIAH WAS JUST ONE
OF A LONG LIST OF
SINS
Please
Note: The Jews rejection of the Messiah was only the tip of the
iceberg in a long list of "killing the prophets & stoning
them that have been sent to you"
As
a matter of fact, the crucifixion of Jesus was not included in the
reason for God's judgment upon them. Jesus specified the blood
shed from Abel to Zacharias. He did not mention His own blood!
FOR
CENTURIES, THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH SAID THE JEWISH RACE WAS
CURSED
For
centuries, the Roman Catholic Church as well as some Protestant
Churches said the Jewish race was cursed because of their
rejection & condemnation of Jesus Christ which culminated in
His crucifixion by the Romans.
That
teaching was terribly flawed and became a tool which was used to
denigrate & destroy Jewish people! For centuries, Jews were
called Christ killers and only recently has the Roman Catholic
Church renounced that evil, devilish doctrine! It’s almost
bizarre that the Roman Catholic Church would call Jews by that
terrible name, since it was Italians (Romans) who crucified Jesus
Christ our Lord. Yet no one thought of calling Italians,
'Christ-killers'.
THE
REAL REASON FOR JEWS SUFFERING IS NOT THE DEAL THEY MADE WITH PONTIUS
PILATE
The
real reason for Jewish suffering is not because they made a deal
with Governor Pontius Pilate, saying: "Let His blood be upon
us and upon our children." (Matthew 27:25)
Let
me make myself abundantly clear on this point: It is impossible
for the blood of Jesus to harm anyone or bring any curse upon Jews
or anyone else! THE BLOOD OF JESUS BRINGS ONLY FORGIVENESS,
HEALING & ETERNAL LIFE! IT CANNOT BRING A CURSE! (1
John 1:7; Colossians 1:20)
ISRAEL
BROKE THE COVENANT WITH GOD AND THIS IS THE REASON FOR THEIR
SUFFERING
I
repeat: Israel's grievous sin of breaking their covenant with God
is the primary reason for their suffering.
The
Bible says, "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not
hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all
His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day;
that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake
thee." (Deuteronomy 28:15)
"The
LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all
that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be
destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the
wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me."
"The
LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have
consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess
it."
"The
LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and
with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the
sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue
thee until thou perish." (Deuteronomy 28::20-22)
"The
LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods,
and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be
healed.
The
LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and
astonishment of heart.
And
thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and
thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only
oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee."
(Deuteronomy 28:27-29)
"Then
the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy
seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore
sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Moreover
He will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast
afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee."
"Also
every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book
of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be
destroyed.
And
ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of
heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of
the LORD thy God."
"And
it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do
you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you
to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be
plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
And
the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of
the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other
gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and
stone." (Deuteronomy 28:59-64)
"And
the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way
whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and
there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and
bondwomen, and no man shall buy you." (Deuteronomy 28:68)
MOSES
PROPHESIED 2000 YEARS AGO CONCERNING THE JEWS
ON THE CURSES AND
BLESSINGS
It
is of vital importance for everyone to know that 2000 years ago
Moses, God's prophet & law giver, prophesied concerning the
Jewish people and the blessings they would receive if they kept
the covenant. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). Moses also prophesied
concerning the curses that would come upon the Jewish people
if they broke the covenant (Deuteronomy 28:15-68). The
prophecy of Moses came to pass in every way to the smallest
detail.
THE
MOSAIC COVENANT
Verse
68 of the Mosaic Covenant states that if the Jews broke the Mosaic
Covenant, they would be taken back to Egypt - as slaves - in
ships. It stated further, that no man would buy them.
Here
are the brutal facts: After General Titus had destroyed Jerusalem
in A.D. 70, killing 1.1 million Jews in the siege, 89,000 Jews
were taken to Egypt as slaves.
THERE
WAS MUCH HATRED AMONG THE ROMANS FOR THE JEWS AND ONLY EGYPT WOULD
TAKE JEWS AS SLAVES
There
was such a hatred against Jews, that it was below the dignity of
any Roman to own a Jewish slave. Among our nations, only Egypt
would take Jews as slaves! That's how perfectly true God's
prophetic Word is.
DID
THE JEWS KILL JESUS? DID THE ROMANS KILL JESUS?
WHO
WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST?
The
simple truth is that Jesus was born to die! (1 Corinthians
15:3; Romans 5:7-8; 1 John 3:8) Jesus Christ was
ordained to be the propitiation for our sins, in order to satisfy
the DEMANDS OF DIVINE JUSTICE (Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2; 4:10)
He
was crucified by the foreknowledge of God. (Acts 2:23)
Although
God used Judas, a human instrument to betray Jesus, the Jewish
leaders to unjustly condemn Jesus to death and the Romans to kill
or crucify Jesus Christ, the death of Jesus was according to God's
will, God's plan & God's purpose. (Romans 8:32)
IT
WAS GOD, THE FATHER WHO LAID THE STRIPES ON JESUS AND SMOTE HIM
IN
FACT, IT WAS GOD THE FATHER WHO LAID THE STRIPES UPON HIM AND
SMOTE HIM. I never fully
understand God's love, until it was revealed to me during a
crusade in Kenya. When He showed me His great love, I wept for 3
days and nights! Here are the scriptures that touched my heart,
and I pray will also minister to you.
"He
that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how
shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."
(Romans 8:28)
St.
Paul declared that God’s love is so great that He did not spare
His only Son but turned Him over to murderers and gangsters
(delivered Him up) to be humiliated, tortured & crucified on
the "cursed tree" for us.
And
since Jesus paid the ultimate price by making the supreme
sacrifice for us, God will freely give us whatever Jesus' death
& resurrection has provided, since He is seated - even now -
on God's right hand as our Saviour, Redeemer & Advocate.
Not
only did our Heavenly Father deliver up His Son to die, HE ALSO
LAID OUR SINS AND SICKNESSES UPON HIM (Isaiah 53:4-6; Matthew
8:16-17; 1 Peter 2:24).
God's
love regarding our salvation was so intense that He rejoiced when
Jesus suffered & bled for us. The Bible says, "Yet it
pleased the Lord to bruise Him. He hath put him to grief."
(Isaiah 53:10)
The
Norwegian translation says: "Det behaget Herren til a knuse
ham - it pleased the Lord to CRUSH Him."
THERE
IS MUCH BITTERNESS IN THE OLDER JEWISH PEOPLE AND MUCH
UNBELIEF
AMONG THE YOUNG JEWISH
The
'children of Israel' suffered terribly for thousands of years,
from the time of the Babylonian captivity until Hitler's
holocaust! This suffering continued under the cruel yoke of Soviet
Communism for decades more. Since the coming of glasnost and
perestroika and the dissolution of the 'Evil Empire' in 1991,
however, hundreds of thousands of these precious people have
immigrated to Israel.
In
my dealings with older Jewish people, I HAVE DISCERNED MUCH
BITTERNESS TOWARD CHRISTIANS, GOD AND LIFE IN GENERAL, because of
the treatment their previous generations received at the hands of
cruel Papal armies during the Middle Ages. That is understandable
because the evil, unholy acts carried out BY THAT RELIGIOUS
DENOMINATION were done in the name of Jesus Christ.
JEWISH
PEOPLE MUST COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE
TRUTH AND BE SAVED
In
order for Jewish people, however, to come to the knowledge of the
truth and be saved, they must - like everyone else - stop blaming
other people for their own problems.
The
Bible says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no,
not one...for there is no difference: For all have sinned and come
(fallen) short of the glory of God.." (Romans 3:10-23)
"For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same
Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans
10:9-13)
"Where
there is neither Greek nor Jew...But he that doeth wrong shall
receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect
of persons." (Colossians 3:11, 24-25)
JEWS
& GENTILES ARE ALL ALIKE.
There
is no difference between Jews & Gentiles with God. We
have all sinned and we must receive Christ as our Saviour and
Lord.
The
truth is, that only Jesus Christ can forgive and save lost
humanity! He alone has the power to forgive sins, remove fear and
condemnation and give peace to troubled hearts and minds, having
defeated death, hell and the grave and purchased full salvation
for all who receive Him as Lord and Saviour.
WHY
IS THIS? Only Jesus Christ qualifies as the Saviour of the world,
because He shed His precious blood as the sacrificial 'pascal
lamb' on Mount Calvary and died as our substitute, according to
the Old Testament Scriptures! (Romans 1:4)
SOME
JEWISH AUTHORS LINK THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH & CHRISTIANITY AS
HAVING THE SAME BELIEFS AS HITLER
These
false statements linking Hitler and Nazism beliefs to Christianity
is a huge injustice to the Christian Church and is very unfair.
These false statements are made by prejudiced, liberal
Protestant authors. The
completely prejudiced and accusatory film 'Anti-Semitism' of
the United States Holocaust Museum which lays blame for the
Holocaust, on the teachings of Christianity is a perfect example
of the injustice done to the Christian church.
MANY
JEWISH PEOPLE FEEL GOD HAS DESERTED THEM, BECAUSE OF THE HOLOCAUST
A
recent report by 'Christianity Today' states: "Now, a group
of prominent Jews has accused the United States Holocaust
Museum...of misleading the public by blaming Hitler's genocidal
program on historic Christian beliefs about Jews.." The
film paints with a broad brush.
A
dull voice intones disconnected facts and quotations that leave
the viewer believing that anti-Jewish bias is the result of
Christian influence on the Roman Empire, that it has been
Christian society alone that has marginalized and oppressed Jews,
and that Nazi racial prejudice against the Jews was in clear
continuity with earlier religious prejudice.
The
Anti-Judaism that preceded Christianity and that had long existed
outside Europe, is ignored."
The
New York Times quoted Joan Brown Campbell, general secretary of
the National Council of Churches as saying, "If you look at
the Nazi regime, you can see in it the philosophy of Christian
superiority."
"Christianity
Today' points out how inaccurate that statement is, "ignoring
Nazi beliefs about the defects in historic Christianity."
And ironically, Campbell made that statement in an interview where
she downplayed the awful persecution, suffering and torture
inflicted upon Christians around the world today.
Incidentally,
it is a Jewish Barrister, Michael Horowitz who is awakening
clergymen and politicians alike to the horrible persecution,
torture, enslavement and other atrocities being carried out
against Christians by many governments in the world today.
In
her book, 'Faith and Fratricide', Rosemary Radford Ruether, called
upon Christians to abandon the belief that Jesus is the Saviour
for everyone in favor of the notion that Jesus is the saviour of
some while others will have their own 'saviours', stated the
'Christianity Today' article.
TODAY,
MANY JEWISH PEOPLE ARE OPENING THEIR HEARTS TO CHRIST
AND
ACCEPTING HIM AS THEIR MESSIAH
Hundreds
of years before His first coming, the Jewish Messiah stated that
He would "GO AND RETURN TO MY PLACE"
referring to Heaven, until the Jewish people acknowledge their
offence (sin) and seek My face. They are doing that now!
In
1971, I conducted a Gospel crusade in the YMCA building in
Jerusalem. We distributed 10,000 handbills there as well as
carried ads in the 'Jerusalem Post'. A lot of Arabs, Roman
Catholics, Greek Orthodox and Protestants attended. Only a
miniscule number of Jews came to our meeting.
Even
20 years ago, you couldn’t find more than 100 born again
Christian Jewish believers in Israel. Today, there are more than
70,000 in 90 different congregations in that nation.
OVER
70,000 CHRISTIAN JEWISH PEOPLE LIVE IN ISRAEL TODAY
HOW
DID THAT HAPPEN? The 'Law of the Return' opened the door for any
Jewish person with at least one Jewish grandparent, to immigrate
to Israel. About 750,000 returned from Eastern Europe and several
hundred thousands from South America. Some of these were believers
in Jesus Christ and they brought the gospel (the good news) with
them to the land of the Bible.
Hosea
states that they will recognize their grave error and with
repentant hearts return to the Lord, realizing that God had to
punish their forefathers for breaking the Mosaic Covenant, and for
rejecting their Messiah.
Notice,
they will say, "Come, let us return unto the Lord: for He
hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind
us up;" Then the prophet interjects something very important
- A TIME-DATE LINE! "After two days will He revive us:
in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His
sight." (Hosea 6:1-2)
JESUS & THE JEWS
Pastor Max
Solbrekken, D.D.
Rabbi
‘Shaul of Tarsus’, a fanatical Pharisee, crusading to
exterminate the ‘Maaminim’, met Jesus of Nazareth - in a
bright light - on the Damascus Road and was converted.
ST.
PAUL MOST EFFECTIVE IN CONVERTING THE HEATHEN
Among
the evangelists, he was the most effective in converting the
heathen. Gentile believers became known as Christians and their
houses of worship, churches (hebrew fem. of synagogue).
At
the Jerusalem Council-A.D. 50, the ‘Maaminim’ accepted
gentile believers into fellowship - without embracing Jewish
customs and disciples - except refraining from idolatry.
The
‘Maaminim’ grew so large that in A.D. 90, Gamaliel II called
the ‘Yavneh Council’ of rabbis to stem the growth of
the new Jewish movement. It was decreed that a disparaging verse
against the ‘Maaminim’ be included in the ‘Amidah’
(central prayer in synagogue service).
PERSECUTION
INCREASED ON THE JEWISH
The
persecution increased when Rabbi Akiba declared ‘Shimon bar
Kochba’ - who led an insurrection against the Romans from A.D.
132 to 135 - the Messiah. The ‘Maaminim’ remonstrated saying,
“There is no Mashiach - except Yeshua”.
Shimon
bar Kochba’s “messiahship” was later repudiated by Jewish
leaders, but the breach with the ‘Maaminim’ remained. Whatever
happened to the Jewish believers? Why did the ‘Maaminim’ - who
continued until the fifth century - disappear?
The
historical record exposes one of Christianity' MOST SHAMEFUL
chapters. The unrighteous treatment of Jesus' first
followers and God's Chosen people. What persecuting Jews
failed to do - it failed to destroy the 'Maaminum' - proud, biased
and spiteful gentile Christians succeeded by their hate and
rejection.
Jewish
preachers had converted many pagans to Christ. But after the first
century, gentile Christians - who had become dominant - began to
persecute their Jewish brethren!
CHURCH
FATHERS DEMANDED JEWISH BELIEVERS RENOUNCE THEIR JEWISH PRACTICES
Church
fathers and clergy demanded that Jewish believers renounce their
Jewish observances and practices. They forgot that the ‘Maaminim’
in A.D. 50 embraced them - on the basis of their belief in Jesus -
without changing cultures.
Now
they demanded that the Jews change their customs - as the basis
for salvation. (Romans 11)
Regarding
the ‘Maaminim’, Irenaeus wrote: “They circumcise their sons,
observe their holidays and customs of the Law and lead a life as
Jews and love Jerusalem as if it were the House of God”.
ANTI-SEMITISM
BEGINS IN A.D. 325 BY NICEAN COUNCIL
The
A.D. 325 Nicean Council, with 318 bishops present - no Jews -
changed the Resurrection Day from the 14th day of Nisan to a
perpetual Sunday. Hence the gap between Passover (Pesach) and
Easter. Note the anti-Semitism: “We ought not, therefore, to
have anything in common with the Jews...our worship follows
a...more convenient course...we desire dearest brethren, to
separate ourselves from the detestable company of the Jews...How,
then, could we follow these Jews, who are almost certainly
blinded”.
Eusebius,
Vita. Const. Further humiliations were decreed against the Jews at
the Laodicean Synod (A.D. 343-381): “It is not lawful to receive
unleavened bread from the Jews, nor to be partakers of their
impiety” (Cannon XXXVIII).
A.D.
538 - JEWS MAY NOT APPEAR IN COMPANY OF CHRISTIANS
The
Third Synod of Orleans (A.D. 538) ordered: “From the Thursday
before Easter for four days, Jews may not appear in the company of
Christians” (Cannon XXX).
QUINISEXT
COUNCIL A.D. 692 - No priestly order or layman may eat
unleavened bread of Jews
The
Quinisext Council (A.D. 692) stated: “Let no one in the priestly
order nor any layman eat the unleavened bread of the Jews, nor
have any familiar intercourse with them, nor summon them in
illness, nor receive medicines from them, nor bathe with them;
but if anyone shall take in hand to do so, if he is a cleric, let
him be deposed, but if a layman, let him be cut off” (Cannon
II).
DOCTRINE
INVENTED SAYS CHRISTIANS ARE TUE ISRAEL
Justin
(died ca. A.D. 165), invented the doctrine that Christians are the
true Israel and that the Church must reject its Jewish past, His ‘Dialogue
with Tryphon’ was riddled with falseness against the Jews.
JEWS
CALLED CAINS, MURDERERS & NOT CHOSEN PEOPLE OF GOD
Tertullian
(A.D. 150-225) stated that the Jews were the Cains, the murderers,
and “were rejected as the Chosen People of God”. - ‘Adversus
Judaeos’.
Origen
(A.D. 184-253) declared the Jews dangerous enemies of Christians,
and stirred up the pagans against them.
Jerome
(A.D. 342-420) wrote that the Law was God’s deliberate trick to
destroy the Jews.
And
Bishop Epiphanius (died ca. A.D. 403), declared Jewish believers -
heretics - because they observed Jewish holy days. St. Chrysostom
(A.D. 345-407) called the synagogue “a brothel, home of vice,
refuge of the devil, citadel of Satan”. He stated “God
hates the Jews and has always done so”.
How
these false statements about the Jews contradict the Holy
Scriptures that remind us of God’s great love for Israel and His
Chosen People, the Jews!
OFFICIALS
DEMAND CONFISCATE & BURN ALL JEWISH BOOKS
In
A.D. 1236, Pope Gregory commanded all church officials in France,
England, Spain and Portugal to confiscate Jewish books on
the first Saturday of Lent. Subsequent to the decree of A.D. 1242,
thousands of volumes - filling 24 wagons - were publicly burned
in Paris.
In
A.D. 1259, a synod of the archdiocese in Mainz ordered Jews to wear
yellow badges. In A.D. 1434, Jewish men in Augsburg had to sew
yellow buttons to their clothes. Across Europe, Jews were forced
to wear a long undergarment, an overcoat with a yellow patch,
bells and tall pointed yellow hats with a large button on them.
MARTIN
LUTHER - TERRIBLE TREATMENT OF THE JEWS
Martin
Luther - the great reformer - was no better than the popes, in his
treatment of the Jews!
In
A.D. 1543, Martin Luther wrote in ‘On the Jews and Their
Lies’: “What shall we do with this rejected, damned Jewish
people? I will give my true counsel. First that their synagogues
and schools should be set on fire.. Second, that also their
houses be demolished and destroyed. Third that their prayer
books and Talmuds be confiscated... Fourth, that, under
penalty of death, their rabbis be forbidden to teach...that their
freedom to travel be restricted...and all their money and valuable
in gold and silver be taken”.
HITLER
AND THE HOLOCAUST
HITLER’S
HOLOCAUST WAS A CULMINATION OF 1800 YEARS OF ANTI-SEMITISM BY
EARLY CHURCH BISHOPS, MEDIEVAL POPES AND PROTESTANT REFORMERS!
May
God forgive the Church for all the hatred, bias and erroneous
teaching that has fueled the perverse anti-Semitic prejudices for
so long.
The
Council of the Evangelical Church met in Stuttgart, Germany -
October, 1945. Lutheran clergymen went on record as saying: “We
are bound to our (German) people not only in a community of
suffering but also in a solidarity of guilt. With heavy pain we
say: Through us, unending misfortune was brought to many”.
And
the German Bishops’ Conference - June 11, 1961 - ordered that a
special prayer for forgiveness concerning the murdered Jews,
should be offered in all Catholic churches in Germany for “the
immeasurable guilt which cannot be blotted out by human
penance”.
POPE
JOHN XXII PRAYS PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS FOR TREATMENT OF JEWS
Pope
John XXIII prayed the following prayer of repentance, shortly
before his death June 3, 1961: “We now recognize that many,
many centuries of blindness have covered our eyes so that we no
longer see the beauty of Your Chosen People and in their face no
longer recognize the features of our first-born brother.
“We
realize that the sign of Cain is marked on our forehead. For
centuries, Abel was lying in blood and tears because we forgot
Your love. Forgive us the damnation we pronounced unjustly upon
the name of the Jews.
“Forgive
us for having crucified You a second time in their flesh. For we
knew not what we were doing.”
It
is most unfortunate, that after all the sufferings the Jews have
experienced - much of it at the hands of the Roman Church - that
it took the Vatican so long to finally recognize Israel as a
nation.
No
doubt the very recent “turn around” resulted in the
Pope’s proposed journey to Jerusalem!
Pope
John Paul II - Being the consummate politician that he was -
realized the need to do so in order to be invited to Israel before
his death. In any event, the Vatican was forced to finally
change their bigoted and prejudiced attitude toward Israel!-
With
the rebirth of the Jewish State however, there is also a
re-emergence of the ‘Maaminim’, in Israel.
And
since hundreds of thousands of Jews have returned to Israel during
this past decade (some of them born again, spirit-filled
Christians from South America & Eastern Europe) the
Evangelical Christian Church is growing rapidly in Israel. Praise
God!
Dr.
H.H. Goldberg, spirit-filled rabbi of a Los Angeles Maaminim
congregation says, “A true Jew is committed to God, to the
land of Israel and to the Jewish people. And many Jews today
believe in Jesus as their Mashiach”.
History
of the
Mistreatment & Persecution
of the Jews
Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
"Only
the people of any country and this includes Ukraine in
the full sense - can decide their fate," Putin told reporters
after meeting Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
"One
can play the role of a mediator, but one must not meddle and apply
pressure," Putin said in a tacit reference to Western
countries, which have been taking part in negotiations to defuse
the Ukraine crisis.
On
the eve of the Supreme Court's ruling Friday, Putin had ridiculed
Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko's call for a repeat
of the bitterly disputed runoff - again staking his position
clearly on the side of Yushchenko's rival for office, Prime
Minister Viktor Yanukovych.
Some
Western countries have issued veiled criticism of Russia for what
they contend was meddling in Ukrainian politics. Last week,
President Bush said any new election in Ukraine should be
free from outside interference - in remarks apparently
directed at Russia.
Putin
left open how Russia will react to the repeat runoff, scheduled
for Dec. 26.
But
he said:""Of course we will ... accept the will of any
nation in the former Soviet space, and will work with any elected
leader."
The
comment suggested Russia could accept the runoff result, but his
criticism of changing laws and his past congratulations of
Yanukovych as the winner left it unclear whether the Kremlin
considers the new vote will reflect the will of Ukraine's deeply
divided people.
Putin
rejected Western accusations, saying Russia acted "absolutely
correctly" in disputes throughout the former Soviet Union. He
suggested forces in the West were seeking to create new divisions
in Europe for their political purposes.
"I
don't want, as in Germany, for us to divide Europe into Westerners
and Easterners, into first-class and second-class people, where
the first-class people have the opportunity to live by stable,
democratic laws and the second category of people are those with,
to speak metaphorically, dark political skin," Putin said.
He
said the second-class people would be subjected to "a nice
but stern man in a helmet who will show them under what political
understanding they must live. And if, God forbid, the ungrateful
foreigner resists, he will be punished with bombs and missiles, as
it was in Belgrade."
"This
I consider completely unacceptable."
Russia
vehemently objected to the 1999 NATO bombing campaign
against Yugoslavia, Russia's ally, which badly damaged Russia's
relations with NATO and particularly the United States. Resentment
persists over the assault, which ended Serbian forces' crackdown
on separatist ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
Putin
delivered his comments as EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana
and other mediators headed to Kiev for new talks with Ukrainian
leaders.
In
Brussels, EU spokeswoman Emma Udwin said the 25-nation bloc was
not seeking to create new divisions over Ukraine.
"We
are not meddling in Ukraine; OSCE observers were invited in",
she said, referring the the Organization for Security and
Cooperation (news - web sites) in Europe, an election-monitoring
agency.
Putin
suggested voters in Ukraine were now under pressure to support the
pro-Yushchenko opposition, which has put hundreds of thousands of
protesters in the streets and has won the support of many Western
countries and organizations.
"Of
course, it is completely unacceptable for threats to be addressed
to people that leave them with no choice, when one of the
political leaders says that 'whatever happens, whatever the result
of elections, we will take power - including by force,"
Putin said. "This is not just pressure, it is scaring
people."
The
Ukrainian opposition warned repeatedly before the court ruling
that they were prepared to take "immediate adequate
actions" if the government tried to drag out the
political crisis - an apparent hint at more radical measures.
Since
the court ruling, Yushchenko has called supporters not to leave
their demonstration in Kiev's Independence Square.
In
an interview with Britain's Sunday Telegraph, he spoke more
forcefully.
"If
the old regime tries to interfere in any way and tries to defy the
will of the people and of parliament, we will simply storm our way
into the Cabinet office. This is what the people expect,"
Yushchenko was quoted as saying.
WHAT MUST
I DO TO
BE SAVED?
Jesus
said, "Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
Yes,
my dear friend, God is still in the business of setting men and
women free from their sins, sorrows, heartbreaks, fears and
troubles. In this age of frustrations, nervous tensions and
mental collapses, Jesus Christ is still granting peace to the
troubled, joy to the discouraged, strength to the weary and
healing to the sick!
1
- You must admit that you are a sinner
The
Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of
God”. (Rom. 3:23) “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the
iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)
2
- You must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
You
MUST believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that Jesus died
on the cross, was buried and rose again from the dead.
“That
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal
life. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already.” (John 3:15,18) “Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on
Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)
3
- You must repent of your sins
The
Bible says, “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish.” (Luke 13:3) “Let the wicked forsake his way and the
unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord,
and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will
abundantly pardon”. (Isaiah 55:7)
4
- You must receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour
The
Bible says: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)
“Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open
the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
with Me.” (Rev. 3:20) “He that hath the Son hath life: and he
that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12)
5
- You must confess Jesus Christ as your Lord
The
Bible says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation”. (Romans 10:9-10)
“…Whosoever
shall confess Me before men, him shall the Son of man confess
before the angels of God: But he that denieth Me before men shall
be denied before the angels of God.” (Luke 12:8, 9)
HOW
DO I INVITE
JESUS CHRIST INTO MY LIFE?
Pray
to God, a prayer - from your heart.
Tell Him that you
are a sinner and that you need forgiveness. Tell him that
you believe Jesus Christ died for your sins. Tell him that
you are willing to change, to turn away from sin. Ask Jesus
Christ to come into your heart and life and be your personal
Saviour.
"But
as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
"Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2
Corinthians 5:17)
If
you prayed and ask Jesus Christ into your heart - YOU HAVE NOW
RECEIVED THE GIFT OF SALVATION - YOU HAVE BECOME A CHILD OF GOD.
God Bless You.

nation of
Israel, children of Israel, the Jews, Jesus Christ,
Jerusalem, God redeeming Israel (King James
Version) Genesis
12:3 - (kjv)
- And I will
bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and
in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Acts
13:23 -
(kjv) - Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise
raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: Hebrews
8:10 -
(kjv) - For this is the covenant that I will make with the house
of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws
into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to
them a God, and they shall be to me a people: Jeremiah
31:35-57 -
(kjv) - Thus
says the LORD, Who gives the sun for light by day and THE FIXED
ORDER of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up
the sea so that its waves roar--the LORD of hosts is His name:
If
this FIXED ORDER departs from before me, says the LORD, then shall
the descendants of Israel cease from being a nation before me for
ever. Thus says the LORD: If the heavens above can be measured,
and THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH BELOW can be explored, then I
will cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have
done, says the LORD. Psalm
122:6 - (kjv)
- Pray for the
peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Isaiah
60:12 - (kjv)
- For the
nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea,
[those] nations shall be utterly wasted.
Zechariah
12:1-11 - (kjv)
- 1. The burden
of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which
stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the
earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2.
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the
people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against
Judah and against Jerusalem. 3.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all
people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,
though all the people of the earth be gathered together against
it.' 4.
In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment,
and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the
house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with
blindness. 5.
And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The
inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts
their God. 6.
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of
fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they
shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on
the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place,
even in Jerusalem.
7.
The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory
of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of
Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.
8.
In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David;
and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD
before them. 9.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy
all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10.
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplications: and they
shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn
for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in
bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his
firstborn. 11.
In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the
mourning of Hadadrimmom in the valley of Megiddon. Jeremiah
4:1 - (kjv)

and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then
shalt thou not remove.

judgement, and in righteousness;; and the nations shall bless
themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

- (kjv) - Hear, O Israel: The
LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy
God, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
might.
Exodus
15:26
- (kjv) - "And
said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy
God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give
ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put
none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the
Egyptians: for I AM the LORD that healeth thee."
Isaiah
45:4
- (kjv) - For
Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called
thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known
me.
Amos

lo, I will command, and sift the house of Israel among all
nations, like as [corn] is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the
least grain fall upon the earth.

not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee,

Psalms
83:1-4
- (kjv)
- Keep
not thou silence, O god: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O
God. hold not thy peace, and be not stil, O God.
2.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have
lifted up the head. 3.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted
against thy hidden ones. 4.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation:
that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
Isaiah
43:1 - 3
- (kjv)
- 1. But
now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, andhe that
formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have
called [thee] by thy name; thou [art] mine. 2.
When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and
through the waters, they shall not overflow thee: when thou
walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall
the flame kindle upon thee. 3.
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I
gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
